Sanders says Trump won by 'overwhelming majority of 63 million'

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders during a Monday press briefing said President Trump won by an "overwhelming majority" of 63 million votes — despite the fact that his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, won 65.8 million votes and he lost the popular vote.

Trump did win the electoral college, which determines the presidency, and he did so handily, winning 304 electoral votes compared to 227 for Clinton.

That's more electoral college votes than any GOP president since George H.W. Bush in 1988, though fewer than what former President Obama won in 2008 and 2012.

"He got elected by an overwhelming majority of 63 million Americans who came out and supported him and wanted to see his policies enacted. He’s delivered on that," Sanders said during her first White House press briefing in weeks.

Trump did. Those were the electoral votes that put him over. I have held it against her for 2 years...that she was so full of hubris that she thought it was Her Turn and had it in the bag, so to speak.

I have recently come to hear, from some pretty reliable sources, that the facts were that she was not well enough to finish out the exhaustive travel and stress of the last few states. Then I thought back on her very public collapse, and it was rumored she was not in good health, but the campaign played it down, and she seemed to revive.

So, perhaps a little of both...but it was the fatal flaw and Trump went right into it.

Of course, Sanders is a habitual liar and the base eats it up, so there's that.

On edit...not all electoral voters are forced to vote as their states voted. Some states award all for 51% of the vote. Trump went and wooed those he could...and it worked. That's why the Electoral College is such a screwed up mess. It literally called the election for the lower vote getter.

200,081,377 registered voters

92,077,433 46 percent who did not vote

108,003,944 did vote

62,984,828 voted for trump

65,853,514 voted for Hillary Clinton

The Russian helped to convince 46% of voters to stay home for one reason or another. Yes some just figured trump couldn't win so why bother, others just go tired of the whole elections cycle. Whatever their reason they didn't vote, and as we all know Russian trolls helped trump, and that's a fact. Maybe Sanders should report the truth, not right wing BS.

The rust belt states didn't like her. She lost MI, PA and WI, which is a death knell for Democrats. I hated the fact almost NO ONE put their name in the hat, it seemed like the DNC eschewed all comers, but I wanted to see Hillary connect. She never did. Yes, I voted for her, YES she was far superior than her opponent, but the average people in the street in 3 key states didn't see it that way. When Trump goes to a plant and (while total bullshit) proclaims he's saving their jobs at that point Hill was toast. I think Hillary is brilliant, but she simply isn't able to connect with those voters, and the Orange Menance was able. Thems the facts.

If those 92,077,433 people had voted, she might have gotten a lot more votes that trump. The voters that voted for trump came out in full force. His "base" voted, they didn't stay home, and yet he still got over 3 million less votes than she did. If everyone would have voted, I am pretty sure trump would not have won.
