In my area of northern NYS, (NY-21) which often leans red during many election cycles, I have noticed way fewer Democratic campaign signs being stolen or knocked over this year. I'm also noticing more signs in yards and along the highways for Democrats than Republicans.
For example, in a couple of business trips during the last ten days, I have driven clear across the Adirondacks in a couple different directions and tried to observe the various political signs as I drove along. In previous years, the Repuke signs would greatly outnumber Democratic signs in yards and along the highways in those areas. However, this year it's entirely different. Democrat's signs are not only outnumbering Repukes signs, but they are actually being left to stand, even in remote areas of the highways. I'm taking this as a hopeful sign for the upcoming election, especially in a battle for a House seat where Democratic hopeful, Tedra Cobb, is hoping to unseat the absolutely despicable liar, Elise Stefanik.
In your area, have you noticed whether or not Democratic yard and road signs are doing better than in previous election year cycles in terms of numbers of them out there or in terms of fewer of them being stolen or vandalized than usual?

(10,156 posts)The beginning of the summer there was nothing but Beto signs. But since then there's been a lot of Cruz popping up to but never the amount of democratic signs in this part of the state. So far no one has violated ours and if they did it would be on ring camera.

(42,770 posts)I moved down here. Now, tons of Beto signs. But, think Cruz finally got some done. They are popping up everywhere. I think the hardcore Reps couldn't stand seeing Beto signs either.
Just got a giant one from the headquarters to hang on our back fence that abuts the main road. Viva Beto !
P.S. Whoever designed Beto's signs did a great job. Black and white really stands out.

(42,770 posts)number of people? At one time all you had to do was put some money into the Republican primary, which no one votes in ..and then you win the general just because you have an R in front if your name. Hope that is a thing of the past now. We just need to get rid of him next Tuesday!

A committee chair told me research tells us signs are not the most effective use of funds which is establishment speak and sorta ticked me off. I visited my local office three times at different hours and days and it was never open. No business hours posted. I drove an hour to find state wide signs for $2. A fourth try locally it was open and signs were 7 each 2 for 10. Which I thought was insane and said so. Nice lady said we have argued the sign policy for years. So they let me take signs at any donation I wanted.
Meanwhile I have my small yards signs, the Repub signs are wall size. Driving on the Interstate all we saw were giant Republican wall sized signs. In an hour drive and an hour back we saw one sort of large local Dem sign.

(2,679 posts)I always have signs and always incorporate them into my Halloween decor.
This year, all the dem signs have joined the Nights Watch and will be doing their part to defend the realm from the caravan of illegal White Walkers and deplorables that broke down part of the Wall.
So I got dragons, and dire wolfs protecting the Seven Kingdoms. I just painted my orange bones and putting out my kavanaugh zombie that has sign, "I Love BEER."
My only regret is I won't have time to get a turtle or eddie munster costume. That would have made great deplorable zombies.
But the real answer to your question. Until I put my signs up I hadn't seen many of any signs. Then I put mine out and started my halloween stuff and my rethug neighbor went out and got all the rethug signs and started putting her little stuff out. All these tiny inflatables. Looks sad compared to my 10ft tall dragon, my wall, the iron throne and my zombie dragon.
The kids love me. And I give out full size candy bars.

(12,265 posts)Not many Democratic ones either, but in the past it has been full of Republican signs. The crazy Trump imposter Stitt who is running and looks like winning the Governor's race has signs in some poor areas of town, makes no sense to me unless the landlords are putting them there and the tenants are afraid to remove them.
Runningdawg
(4,522 posts)In my N Tulsa neighborhood, signs disappear as fast as they can be put up. It's just not worth the hassle or the risk anymore. It was kind of "preaching to the choir" anyhow. No one up here is voting for Stitt.

(12,265 posts)I went and gave his campaign $100 and got 4 more. After they stole the second one, I put a note on it, that every time they steal it I give Drew another 100. Didn't get stolen after that.
On my way home I counted 5 Stitt signs, normally in this neighborhood I would see at least 30 of those for a R running for Gov.

(9,838 posts)Democratic committee purchased and put several large Stacey Abrams signs, one of which was stolen after a week. In addition, someone stole one of our Stacey Abrams yard signs, shot it full of holes and displayed it upside down in their yard. Our Dem Committee Chair reported it to the police, but was told there was nothing they could do as the homeowner could claim that the sign had been given to them. I encouraged our Chair to report it to the State Dem. Party, the Abrams campaign, and the SPLC.
Dem_4_Life
(1,765 posts)Most of the Cruz signs I have seen in the area are clustered together as if they are afraid to put out a sign unless their neighbor has one haha.
There are a LOT of Beto signs compared to ever in past elections. In my neighborhood I think I have seen 1 Cruz sign and on my block there are 7 Beto signs which is awesome and way more then any other election. I've had mine up since December and it is holding out well I have to keep propping it up with a potted plant from the wind.
Every time I work at the Beto HQ here we always have people coming in looking for signs usually in large quantities at a time. Yesterday one of the volunteers went to deliver Beto material to a lady in a nursing home that called us wanting information that she can provide to her friends and to sway their vote. (It was the cutest thing ever)

(42,770 posts)here in Waco. But I was much more optimistic earlier...think Cruz didn't have any signs, literally. Now he does and they are popping up everywhere. What's cool is driving around though and noting...wow..didn't know they were Dems !
Amimnoch
(4,558 posts)The total number of yard signs is rather small.. maybe 2-3 houses on some blocks, other blocks no signs at all.
However, of those there's many more Beto and Lizzie signs than there are for Cruz/Culberson, which is VERY unusual in my district.
Nobody has messed with/tampered with my yard signs for both Beto and Lizzie, and I haven't heard of anyone in my subdivision having issues with sign vandalism.
Sunsky
(1,737 posts)Only a handful of Democratic signs, Republican signs are all over. Most of the Democratic signs are on people's private property but along the sides of the streets are laden with Reps. I have only seen 3 Rep.Ted Deutch signs yes 3 and numerous Kimaz signs along the roadway. I only knew this person was running against Ted when I saw the signs all over and googled the name.
Democrats just don't seem to put a lot of effort into having their presence seen through signs like the Republicans do here. I think it's a mistake.
LAS14
(13,783 posts)If it has always been this way, then dems in red districts should follow this example. I think we need a visible presence EVERYWHERE, so people with an inkling of right thinking know there's a place to go.
Sunsky
(1,737 posts)Usually I would see many Democratic yard signs and a few pockets of Republican yard signs in certain neighborhoods. Along the roadside would be a mixture of Dem and Rep signs. I noticed the change in the 2016 election as well and even then it wasn't this bad.
I think people are scared to put up yard signs. The majority of the yard signs are for our non partisan local candidates and the amendments.

(4,037 posts)I reside in Wisconsin in the most Republican county in the country. There are very few Dem yard signs. I have a neighbor who is extremely religious (it's his right) and has two daughters and a wife, yet he has yard signs up supporting every complicit pussy grabbing conservative on the slate. I just can't figure out how the other three women in his family can support this racist, extremist, sexist, party. Is he as good at the con as tRump?
AH! Abortion, and abortion ONLY. As for the rest of the repugnant parties values, they could care less. Sad. Very sad.

(1,103 posts)Rethug signs up with BLUE backgrounds. (You can always tell who NOT to vote for because they are always first up with the biggest, most expensive posters, mailings and tv ads---you know because they have the most money and always want MORE.)
The mailings of Dems proudly say they are Democrats while the ReThugs indicate no affiliation. Beware of wolves in sheep clothing. It's easy to look up who these people are.
For sure, I'd be ashamed to call myself a Republican, too.

But both have > 60% vote forecasts. So nobody is particularly worried.
I see far more signs for our Question 1 (would require a minimum ratio of nurses to patients). Funny thing is both sides are using the same slogan: Nurses say Yes/No on #1!".
I would love to put out a Beto sign, but it has 100% chance to be stolen. To date, every campaign sign we put out has been stolen. We have some retrogrades in our neighborhood.
But I'd still love a sign or bumper sticker. Anyone know where I can get one?

(22,236 posts)Not that signs ever vote, but at least it all sounds much more encouraging than in previous election years. In general, it sounds like fewer Democratic signs are being stolen or vandalized than in previous years, and there is apparently more enthusiasm, in terms of signs, towards the Democratic candidates, even in some traditionally red areas. It all sounds encouraging, and hopefully it will be one more factor that translates into something good for us on Nov 6th.
