Another apparent example of exemplary cops - this time in Pittsburgh.

I am talking here about one specific point: When they showed the first video from the scene, the cops running toward the synagogue, and therefore the shooter, were not the ones in body armor, looking like a camouflage version of Star Wars troopers. They were ordinary patrol cops dressed in their patrol uniforms.

not that I would want to face the choice of confronting a shooter with an AR-15 like assault rifle.

Afterwards, with he understanding that these are generally murder-suicides in the making, standard tactic has become immediate engagement of the suspect.

That's partly why the Parkland HS situation was so shocking to most LE; the campus cop did not engage, which goes against the tactics that have been more or less standards for a decade.
