I've been lucky in the death threat area. I've been called LOTS of foul names and accused of cooking babies in my cauldron (no truth to that rumor) and to being a crazy cat lady (I have just 2 rescues). But no death threats - yet.

I was watching a live stream of President Obama in Detroit, last night, and felt the usual twinge of dread. It was a massive and rowdy (in a good way) crowd. I know the security is top notch, but all it takes is one rogue agent, or one slip up. I have the utmost respect for the Secret Service, but they are all humans and in today's atmosphere, I have complete faith in no organization.

I just opened my FB page to find that a 2nd cousin, I recently met, "shared" something on my timeline really just meant to get a rise out of me - a collage of pictures showing African Americans wearing MAGA hats and calling it the Democrats worst nightmare. It was, IMHO, a nasty move aimed at irritating me.

There was a time I could have back and for discourse with Republican family members and acquaintances. I could ALMOST see how they were fooled by GWB. Now some of those same people are defending a cowardly, treasonous narcissist who is hell bent on financially profiting off the destruction of the country. Whether he succeeds, or not, I don't need people like that in my life.

I should just unfriend her, but I don't want to cause discord in the family. Instead I'll exclude her from seeing my posts.

I'll give a response that blows her off, and she will always follow it up with a 'We're family and I love you. And thank you for your service.' Every single time.

I always warn people who send me a friend request that I'm very political and even more liberal, so if that 'offends' them, don't send the request or just don't follow me. But if they do, I don't want them to post right wing junk on my timeline because it will piss me off and I'll just delete it.

Hopefully the next time we get together (She's in Maryland, I'm in Michigan) she will keep politics out of the conversation. If she doesn't, I'll just change the topic.
