General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI know cops are not always a popular subject here, but can we agree that the NYPD is . . . . . .
. . . . . a truly great department and defendable the best city police force in the world?
I tend to buck the general feeling about cops. I hold the pros in high regard. To be sure, there are bad cops and bad cop practices, but look at the NYPD. At the street level during this past week of evacuations and found bombs, the city kept running. Caution was exercised in proper measure and yet the city went on about its business even as heavy cop presence was everywhere it needed to be.
Color me impressed.

(9,291 posts)They have the biggest terrorist intelligence collection outside of the Feds. They saw people die, and lost some of their own on Sept 11th. Law enforcement should never be partisan, it should act in a legal and procedural fashion.
That's why we're not members of the FOP. Besides sheriffs, they shouldnt back any candidate, especially Trump.

(33,349 posts)The amount of power that we have to grant police forces attracts power-mad people. Those are the ones who make the news most often. The ones who can handle the power and responsibility usually do not make the news.

That's when they are a problem.
