Sure hope this is just an anomaly. We really need paper ballots across the board.

(28,946 posts)ballots don't give the vote to anyone. Switching a vote does more damage than not counting one.
If you have the problem happen to 10 people and five are Dems and 5 are Republicans here is what you are left with:
You have 5 Dems vote and that ends up zero votes for Beto and 5 for Cruz
You have 5 Republicans vote and that ends up zero votes for Beto and zero for Cruz.
So out of those 10 voters Cruz gets 5 and Beto 0.

(14,492 posts)any smart hacker would make sure some changes hit both parties but would insure the totals are skewed toward their preference. That provides a window for the "both sides" argument to throw shade on the event.
I hope some Texans are requesting an investigation regardless......

(28,946 posts)this is occuring. Those machines need to be smashed into pieces and paper ballots handed out. Period!

(29,067 posts)Some electronic voting machines were reported as turning Kerry votes to Bush votes -- but not the reverse.

(31,261 posts)Either select each democrat individually and double check before sealing the vote, or vote straight Dem and DOUBLECHECK before sealing the vote. Votes get stolen when people don't pay attention.
I can't believe some people that holler about stolen elections don't see the damed need for people to pay attention when they are voting.

Paper can be seen by everyone involved.

(15,943 posts)The Election Admin said to slow down and make sure the turn wheel doesn't move and to recheck your vote before hitting the ballot button.
This is why I never ever vote early. You cannot have a paper ballot, only on the general election day can you have a choice.

(36,081 posts)I responded to every email from every Democractic Party org back in 2007, telling, even threatening to withhold contributions to them, to change this country's voting to paper ballot.
Threads have come up within six months of every election since 2000 in Florida.
Don't think that some states among the 50 jurisdictions won't try to battle the change out in the courts.
Besides the fact that The People's will and interests don't get air time, political control and sunk cost fallacy do get media play. .
Only the dream-come-true of a willing majority in both houses might make this paper ballot dream happen.

(14,174 posts)When do you hear Democrat spokespersons on news programs raising this alarm as if it were one of the most important issues of our time? For the security of our very democracy?
I'm not talking about some magical future, IF Democrats ever get in power again because of this. I do not see any indication that they take this as a serious issue. In fact they seem to schluff it off whenever they are asked about it.
So let me get this straight. You are angry, not at Democrats silence on this issue, but at someone else that is angry about their silence?. That someone concerned about it doesn't want to wait for some perfect future when Democrats hold all branches AND have majorities of Governorships....then...when.....they don't need to?
My point is that they may never ever get to that position, if they don't start talking about it. The time is NOW (actually years ago) . Of course they can't pass new policy, obviously. What part of "DEMAND" did you not understand?

Looks like a pattern may be developing of vote switching. Everyone voting - in every state - should be watching for this.

(814 posts)People and poll workers would try a number of times and could not get a Kerry vote. I had heard it on other election years, too. But, it was really bad in 2004 especially in the Houston area, if I remember correctly.

(8,380 posts)"It's not a glitch, it's a user-induced problem that comes from the type of system that we have," Oldham said. "I think both sides could be equally hurt."
1) User-error is when the user makes a mistake. The user is NOT making a mistake, the machines are glitchy.
2) No, both sides aren't hurt equally. If you choose a straight Democratic ticket, your senate vote goes to Cruz. If you choose a straight Republican ticket, your vote goes to no one.
They cheat and they lie to win.

(363 posts)In Houston. Glad they reported on it but very worrying since so many have already voted. They reported that this has been going on for years! It happened to me in 2004 when I tried to vote for Kerry. It bounced to Bush! I alerted the poll worker and she told me it had been happening to some others. We will vote this morning and plan to pass the word around.
