Avenatti Denies 'White Male' Nominee Comments

After reportedly telling TIME magazine that the Democratic Party’s 2020 presidential candidate “better be a while male,” Michael Avenatti issued a series of defenses for his comments via Twitter. The prominent lawyer denied making any such remarks, calling them “bullsh**t.”

In an interview with TIME published on Thursday, Avenatti discussed the next Democratic presidential candidate. Avenatti himself has toyed with the idea of running, and has not ruled out the possibility.

“I think it better be a white male,” Avenatti told TIME. “When you have a white male making the arguments, they carry more weight. Should they carry more weight? Absolutely not. But do they? Yes.”

Avenatti denied the statements, telling CNN he was “misquoted” and that “it was taken out of context.”

I remain skeptical of Mr. Avenatti. He's out of his depth, seemingly. LuvLoogie Oct 2018 #3

getting misquoted and taken out of context...it's hard for all three of these to have happened at the same time. I could believe that some remarks alone, if he made them, were presented out of context for the clickbait but he either made the comments or not. If he didn't make them, there is nothing that could be taken out of context.

I never trust the media.

Besides, it sounds to me like Avenatti was talking about the justified criticism of white males and how it can help if that criticism comes from other white males.

He might be a good lawyer. The jury's still out.
He's not that good of a politician. He seems easily baited.

How could anyone possibly put those comments 'in context?' Pretty straight forward: white males carry more weight. It better be a white male. Because the implication is that if it isn't a white male, we lose.

What other context is there? Other than Michael Avenatti just stepped in it, big time.

He's right about one thing: his comments are/were bullshit.

Welcome to the arena, Mr. Avenatti. Time to get fitted for your life jacket.
