Sinead O'Connor renounces Catholicism and converts to Islam

IRISH singer Sinead O'Connor has revealed she has renounced Catholicism and converted to Islam, taking the new name "Shuhada' Davitt".

O'Connor, who last year changed her legal name to Magda Davitt, said she had ditched the Catholic Church for good in a message to fans on Twitter.

The 51-year-old was previously ordained a priest by a breakaway Catholic sect, the Irish Orthodox Catholic and Apostolic Church, in the late 1990s.

Because Islam is so much more accepting of women than the Catholic Church.

The fucking opiate of the masses. As we see here in America, with all the religious extremists bending down to worship the orange mushroom. Yeah, right.

She's bipolar, if I remember correctly, and needs meds. Her actions often contradict what she says, but she doesn't see it. I wish the press would do her a favor and ignore her.

Sadly no amount of religious convergence is going to make up for over a quarter of a century of irrelevance.

this probably won't do it, in the long run. The brokenness is from the inside-out.

I hope her kids have a lot of stability throughout the rest of her family. She sure can't foster it

And it cost her her career
