Letter to DFA from actor Mark Ruffalo :
Before I was an actor, before I was Bruce Banner or the Hulk, I was an Italian kid from Kenosha, Wisconsin. My mom was a hairdresser. My dad worked for a family-owned construction painting business.
The company my dad worked for employed hundreds of union painters. They painted large industrial buildings, plants, and companies. Places like American Motors, Anaconda Brass, Anchor Hocking. Some of them have since been shuttered.
When I was a boy I saw a polluted and toxic Lake Michigan become clean again through thoughtful environmental regulations. We had a thriving middle class with strong unions, we had high-quality public school teachers who were treated with respect. Our classrooms were not packed to the brim.
A lot has changed since I was a kid in Wisconsin. Policies that stranded our workforce when the manufacturing left, the destruction and disintegration of unions, the consolidation of wealth and assets into the hands of a few at the cost of the many. Teachers, at all levels, have been made scapegoats for Republican politicians to ridicule and demean.
Randy Bryce understands that real Wisconsin values are policies that treat workers fairly, prioritize public education, protect our planet and put people over politics and rhetoric.
And Randy understands that diversity makes Kenosha -- and America -- stronger and better.
SNIP
As a union ironworker, Randy knows the power of organized labor to protect wages, retirement and safety of its members. He knows how to fight for those things and he knows that a fair shake is what folks want and need to get ahead.
As a cancer survivor who had to declare medical bankruptcy, Randy understands what it's like to be sick, without health insurance, and one catastrophe away from losing everything because of a broken and inhumane system that puts profits above all else.
As a U.S. Army Veteran, Randy knows what it means to serve this country and fight for our shared values.
Randy's beliefs come from his experiences as an American. They come from hard work, struggle, and friends and family being there when times got tough. We need people like Randy at this historical moment in our nation -- people willing to listen to folks, and stand up and fight for the needs of the whole not the desires of the few.
Paul Ryan was bad for our nation and worse for Wisconsin, and we've been assured that we'll see more of the same from his hand-picked replacement.
SNIP
Thank you,
Mark Ruffalo

did not indicate origin of poll. The email was sent today, so I'm hoping it's a recent one; would be of interest to know who did the polling. Regardless, I'm sure Randy Bryce needs all the support he can get!

It's worth reading for these paragraphs alone:

There are a lot of potential voters who do not know what has been taken from them.
