Megyn Kellys 9 a.m. Today show hour has been canceled, multiple sources confirm to PEOPLE.
The news comes just 48 hours after she received immense backlash for her controversial remarks about blackface earlier this week.
Theyre contacting the staff and reassigning everyone today. Everyones being told that they still have a home here, but it wont be on Megyns show, one source says. They havent made an official announcement about the show, but everyone knows what it means when theyre being moved somewhere else. The show is clearly over.

(53,791 posts)In this day and age no one but a dummy would say something so stupid. Hell, when she was a kid it still would've been a dump thing to say.
And they were paying her 23M a year.

(260 posts)Given how she was treated, I don't think she'd even want to come back.
However if she did it would be a big win for NBC.

(7,888 posts)She always has the best lines on GG. She is pretty quick witted in real life as well.
rogue emissary
(3,148 posts)NBC was just throwing away money on the hope that Kelly could bring moderate or none political viewers.
All she has is her racism in tight dress routine.

(53,791 posts)The NBC suits who hired her and America has found out that there is no substance to her, just looks.
I mean how do you get to be 47-years-old and not know blackface is and always has been one of the nastiest bits of racism anyone can engage in.
That's just dumb, nitwit territory even.

(29,205 posts)Even though there is overwhelming evidence that St. Nicholas was middle eastern (born in what is now Turkey).
"The true story of Santa Claus begins with Nicholas, who was born during the third century in the village of Patara. At the time the area was Greek and is now on the southern coast of Turkey. His wealthy parents, who raised him to be a devout Christian, died in an epidemic while Nicholas was still young. Obeying Jesus' words to "sell what you own and give the money to the poor," Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering. He dedicated his life to serving God and was made Bishop of Myra while still a young man. Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships."

Seriously, she said that about a teenage girl physically assaulted and thrown to the ground by a white, male cop.
Took a horrible gamble thinking that educated, intelligent people would forget how nauseating and full of shit she was when working for Fox and would warm up to her. She NEEDS an audience of white trash, uneducated people to be successful.

(53,791 posts)NBC was hoping to drawas if those guy would be home to watch her on a morning show instead of being at work.
Whoever made the decision to hire her needs to go to.
gratuitous
(82,849 posts)She started off with her own star vehicle, which she botched. So NBC re-assigned her to the Today Show, still a plum post. She burned that to the ground this week. Now they're shuffling the staff to other assignments, which probably means Kelly's time on the Today Show is over. Where does she go next? Football Night in America?
NBC has a lot of money wrapped up in Kelly, and the nature of big-shot executives like Andrew Lack is not to admit to mistakes. Who's going to get shunted aside to try to find a suitable place for Kelly to try again?

(5,914 posts)You gotta know that there are literally a MILLION pretty blond women out there ready and willing to replace you instantly. See ya, Megyn.
Oh, I'm sorry! I forgot that you have a law degree, or some such, from an apparently respected institution. Well, if we had seen the level of knowledge, critical thinking, and scholarship that goes into that in your actual work output, you might not have been sent packing. That extra education could have been your "value add". But you chose not to use that. You chose to just repeat the same ridiculous horseshit that we hear everywhere else.
Enjoy your new time off. I would suggest that you spend all your free time watching your former NBC colleague Rachel Maddow. She is also highly educated, though she is not blond. But she has one of the most popular cable news shows on television. She brings all that tedious "book learning" to her work, and America loves her for it.
Take care.
P.S.: Please don't pose for Playboy.
