Wait. Wait. You can't mail a package in a mail slot.

You have to take it to the counter.

And if you took an obviously amateurish addressed package to the counter that had Congresswoman Wasserman Schulz's return address

to send to Hillary Clinton

or Barack Obama

or the others...

NO postal employee would mail it for you.

SO.........what is the explanation for that??

were not delivered through regular mail.
As I understand it, contractors are sometimes/often used for delivery.
Or it could have been individuals that delivered the packages.
I think the investigators don't want to give away all that they know regarding the bombs' delivery.
Sorry I can't be specific about who made the comment re delivery not being the US mail.
I normally watch NBC, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS. It could have been any of those networks.

Since at least some of them were stamped, the FBI is talking to postmasters where they were mailed.

Which is where the device addressed to Maxine Waters was discovered?

Similarly, the Secret Service has said that the packages sent to Obama and the Clintons were intercepted in discovered during routine mail screening procedures. Those procedures intercept mail before it is delivered to the addressee. The Brennan package (which probably is the package whose picture you saw) was delivered to CNN headquarters a courier (which would explain the postage stamps not being cancelled).

several different methods were used.

As for finding them all on the same day, well today is a new day. Also, once 1package was found they started looking for others in the facilities. they haven't said if they reached the different facilities on the same days. Some could have arrives Monday and Tuesday and had not been screened yet. But on Wednesday when The 1st one was found they searched for more.

The mail bomber could have used a rule of thumb. If I mail a package locally, it guess that it would get there in 1, maybe 2 days. 3 -5 days for out of state, which depends on how far out of state.

Personally I am enjoying that a lot of tape was used. The packages themselve did not go off destroying evidence.

at least not in the sense most people think of as packages, i.e. packed in a box. They were in those yellow padded envelopes and were not all the big. For perspective, the picture that showed the bomb and the envelope also had a plastic container of Clorox wipes nearby. You could see the envelope was about half again the width of the plastic container.

Further, there is no evidence the envelopes were taken inside a post office and mailed. They would have easily fit through the opening of a regular mailbox. My local post offices have regular mailboxes right outside.

Last evening on MSNBC, one of the guests talked about how USPS handles "odd shaped" mailings outside the normal processing stream. That is they don't whip along a conveyor system for automated sorting and post-marking. That's why there was no cancellation stamp on the envelopes. ETA, USPS has the same info on its website.

Lastly, some post offices have scales in the lobby where you can weigh an envelope and get the correct postage. It's possible the bomber took one of the envelopes to a post office with a publicly accessible scale and got the correct postage, 8 stamps would be $4.00. I think if the postage had been wrong, the envelopes would have been returned to sender for insufficient postage.

Take an unaddressed one in to buy enough postage stamps, weigh it, leave and put the stamps and addresses on at another facility then slip it in the package receptacle.

Some places even have drive-thru post office collection boxes that would certainly be large enough for those packages. Here's another thing to think about. Did the packages travel in the cargo holds of passenger jets? It seems they all got through the initial screening (or lack thereof) and wound up in the system.

could have easily fit those packages. They may have gotten flagged due to their weight - I know there is a limit on weight and the package will be returned.
