The FBI arrested a man in Town of Madison, Wisconsin, on Wednesday for trying to buy radioactive material with the intent to kill someone, local news station WKOW reports. Jeremy Ryan, 30, allegedly attempted to buy a lethal dose of a radioactive substance online between March and October 2018. The Town of Madison Police Department confirmed to The Daily Beast that the man arrested was the same Jeremy Ryan who lost the August Republican primary while running for Wisconsins 1st Congressional District in the House of Representatives. Agents reportedly searched Ryans home, and officials said there was no danger to the public. Ryans alleged target was not identified by officials, and he reportedly faces up to a life sentence in prison.

Jeremy Ryan, 30, of the Town of Madison, Wis., attempted to purchase a lethal dose of a radioactive substance on the internet to kill another person, according to court documents. Ryan tried to buy the substance in March and October of 2018.
After Ryan was arrested in the 700 block of Mills Street in Black Earth, Wis., FBI Milwaukee and FBI Chicago's Hazardous Evidence Response teams searched his home on the 300 block of Munn Road in Madison, according to the release.
"It's just bonkers to think about, it's like a spy movie come to life. Pretty small tight-knit community here on the south-side of Madison. There's not a whole lot of action that goes on here," a neighbor said.
