https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/24/politics/claire-mccaskill-crazy-democrats/index.html"State Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, a Democrat whose district includes Ferguson, told CNN she believes the ad could refer to African-American voters in the state's cities, among other subsets of the Democratic base.
McCaskill "is calling her base in the urban areas crazy Democrats," Chappelle-Nadal said, "and she's relying on those so-called crazy Democrats to make sure she wins."
McCaskill last year called on Chappelle-Nadal to resign after she expressed hope that Trump would be assassinated. Chappelle-Nadal later removed the post and apologized but refused to step down.
Chappelle-Nadal decided previously that she plans to write in a candidate rather than vote for McCaskill, who Chappelle-Nadal says has been "very disappointing.""

(18,101 posts)She's out-state, throwing blue city voters under her bus. Her ads in the cities tell us what a moderate uniter she is.
This isn't uniting, it's pandering to the rwnj Trumpers.

(18,101 posts)whether McCaskill blows it or not. That's a non-sequitur.
I have every right to be pissed that a Democrat is calling me crazy, though.
My union and I must be crazy to be supporting her financially, and by campaigning for her.

(68,586 posts)end of story and the voter who will write in a name is the problem in my opinion. Same shit that led to Trump.

(10,529 posts)that's rarely mentioned, not every tRump voter in that state may be a hardcore deplorable cult worshiper, some might have only voted for him because they hated him slightly less than HRC

(90,714 posts)...didn't think that was such a hot idea to say out loud. Do I have that right so far? And Chapelle-Nadal is going to write in some other candidate rather than vote for the Democrat.
Sorry guys, but that sounds a little "crazy" to me. I'm not going to advise ditching Claire McCaskill based on a personal dispute about which I know so little other than the above.

(18,101 posts)Chappelle-Nadal just reacted like a normal person being called crazy. Surely you don't think the ad was only calling her crazy.

(50,279 posts)One reason Republicans win is their "Reagan rule" about not saying anything negative about a fellow party member. (That could be contributing to their current lack of response to the madness that is Trump.)

(29,674 posts)Or even Missouri voters. It's in ref to the nonstop name dropping by the Hawley campaign and his buddies of Pelosi, Clinton, Warren,Sanders, etc.
Am I happy with it? No, but I understand why she needs to be as moderate as possible while going after Hawley. All Hawley has is McCaskill's husband's money and "crazy D.C.liberals" as his talking points.
This thing between McCaskill and MCN is a personal thing. MCN must think it's perfectly normal to say publicly that you hope the POTUS gets assassinated. This has absolutely nothing to do with race, urban voters etc. MCN is just desperate for some attention and to get back at McCaskill.
I am not thrilled McCaskill called some Democrats "crazy" but we all know who she was referring to based on the names Hawley keep mentioning -- and the irony is none of those names are black Democrats. Remember, it is Missouri, not California or Vermont. Just win Claire! Whatever it takes.

(29,674 posts)has a personal beef with McCaskill. She made a comment in ref to Trump being assassinated and McCaskill called her out on it, as did most Democrats. She's never forgiven McCaskill for it and does this every chance she gets.

(22,143 posts)put out by Hawley and his campaign. That's all it counts, and if this lady wants to vent off after she mouthed off about an attempt on rump, that's fine. She is responsible for her remarks and she's the one that lost all creditability, Not Claire.
She's (Claire) has been there for me when I have written her letters for help and love her for it. She is truly a representative and has had many town hall meetings to prove it.

(29,674 posts)who is making the comment.
She and McCaskill have bad blood between them, mostly on her side. She made a comment in reference to assassinating Trump and basically that it should be done. Almost everyone on both sides spoke out against the comment, including McCaskill. She hasn't forgotten that and has come out against anyone that was part of speaking out against her.
