CNN has mentioned twice "can we ignore it" about fire alarms

Jim Sciutto just said it again. One of the female anchors - Kate I think - said it earlier.

Who ignores a fire alarm?
Why are they saying this on the air?
Is this a high rise thing?

firm. In an area where a few of their guys had cubicles temporarily because of construction. The alarm goes off and someone comes on the intercom and says, "sorry, just a birthday cake that set off the alarm, no need to worry." I'd already locked my laptop ready to follow everyone out and no one made a move. I'm thinking we should have followed their evacuation procedure anyway, we would if we were back at the blood center.

I was about to go over and tell one of the guys I knew real well that and another voice comes over the intercom. "Anyone not right in the middle of something critical, come to the main conference room NOW!" I heard the guy I was going to talk to say "rut-roh" from his cubicle and he got up and took off to their ass chewing!

You'd think anyone would know they had to follow the rules in that case.
