GOP Tries To Use Gillum's Hamilton Ticket Debacle As Battering Ram

On Tuesday, text messages were published that show that Democratic governor candidate Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum accepted tickets to see “Hamilton” on Broadway from an undercover FBI agent who was spearheading an investigation into the city’s economic development agency, according to a Tuesday Politico report.

Gillum says he believed that the tickets, obtained by FBI agent Adam Corey, were purchased by his brother.

“I didn’t take free trips from anybody,” Gillum said during a debate with Republican candidate Ron DeSantis. “I’m a hardworking person. I know that may not fit your description of what you think people like me do. But I’ve worked hard for everything that I’ve gotten in my life, and I don’t need anybody handing me anything for free.”

Republicans are trying to use the texts to paint Gillum as unethical.

is that, the newspapers like Tampa Times are running with this story both in print and on Twitter. Not one mention of DeSantis and Scott lying about protecting people with pre-existing condition, when both are involved with lawsuits to remove the protection. I just don't get how the Republicans are able to destroy someone like Gillum over a minor matter, yet, they commit inhumane acts on a daily basis.
