Can we please stop with the caravan conspiracies?

It takes several double backflips of logic, logistics, and common sense to come up with any of these scenarios.

The right doesn't have some double secret plan to set this up.
The left - see this link below where Pence even mentions Venezuela (like they aren't already flat broke) - doesn't have a double secret plan either.

Both wild theories are really demeaning too. It's as if these people are just sitting around and someone flashes some green and they say, "You want me to do what for your immediate political means? Oh sure, let me just go round up the family, collect anything we can carry, and start walking...to make you happy and so you will give us some money".

Please.

These people are traveling as a group for their own security.
This is an exodus.

Please DU'ers stop with this nonsense.

It is the name they have given to themselves. It is not up to us to name them something else.

4. We should differentiate between a caravan existing, and an organized media exploitation of that

because there certainly IS a coordinated effort amongst Right-Wingers to exploit the existence of this caravan for partisan political purposes, including a degree of misrepresentation and lying which would be shameful if it were performed by any person capable of shame, and the media coverage of said falsehoods is grossly irresponsible if not outright journalistic malpractice.

The only party that gains from this is the gop who have a history of political dirty tricks close to every election. We are told this caravan started with about 5000 people. As a caravan the timing is fucked up. The best estimates place them 60-90 days from the border, and Christmas in Texas is not guaranteed to be balmy. But if you wanted a caravan you could offer cash-say $1000 per family-for those leaving in a 10 day window....that's $5 million plus say $1 million for distribution by corrupt local officials and you've got a caravan and an October surprise for a mere $6 million. And in this election year that's chump change.

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...

I don't think it's demeaning to think that desperate poor people already thinking of leaving could easily be convinced to start early with a few rumors of trouble on the way and a financial incentive to get started. Neither would it be hard to find corrupt locals to get the ball rolling.

In recent years, the proportion of migrants hiring human smugglers—"coyotes", also known as "polleros",—has increased drastically as a result of intensified surveillance along the border.

Coyotaje

It's not even a stretch to imagine some dark GOP money from, say, the millions in unaccounted-for cash donated to the Drumpf inauguration, or a big donor like Adelson, being funneled to some coyotajes to get a "caravan" rolling ahead of the midterms on the promise of a job and a new life in the U.S., the crowd growing larger along the way. When you're a coyotaje...it's what you do!

In case anyone needs a reminder of what the GOP is capable of in their quest for power:

Some 'October surprise' conspiracies turn out to be true (Iran hostages released minutes after Reagan was sworn in)

Iran–Contra affair

blaming everyone from Trump(for electoral purposes), the Clinton/Deep State cabal(a rightwing CT going on about a conspiracy to overthrow the Great One) to I don't know what for financing the Central American refugees trying to flee from a truly horrible situation.

As if these people are so stupid they can't figure out that it's safer to walk through dangerous, gang-infested country in large numbers, or that it might just help them to get international media attention. They are being given all kinds of life-sustaining support by the people who live around the route they are taking.

They are desperate people doing the best they can for themselves and their children. The great tragedy is that their best hope is the United States, as screwed up as we are, with a wannabe Caligula as wannabe Emperor. And we are their best hope.

Kind of puts things in perspective, doesn't it?

They were going on and on about their "theories" with little evidence. So, I gave them another one with just as much "proof"

Probably not helpful to do that since most of them don't seem capable/willing to make the connection that their theories are just nonsensical as the one I put out there. heh, it did make me feel better though.
