Why LYING is so harmful to our Democracy..

I know we all tell some kind of lie now and then.. Aunt Shirley really does look like a rampaging goat in that dress, but the most we say is "that is unique".. I truly do get that


But what the President and the hangers on to his philosophy are doing is nothing less than a full out attack on our Democracy..

The one thing we have to make our Democracy work is depending on our politicians giving us the best information that they have.. can they be wrong from time to time.. hello.. of course..

But the purposeful.. never ending.. lies.. every other word a lie.. is going to destroy our country.. what are people voting for.. knowing that the person is lying to their faces..

We are the government.. we put these people in places of power .. we hire them basically and they are lying to us..and putting the thing we value most at risk..

are supposed to set an example for all Americans. Especially kids. (When I say kids I'd go up to like 19-20 year olds.)

Post-Trump, there will be a renaissance of people yearning for decency, real true normalcy, and integrity in our public life. The Dem politician, who can uplift us while telling the truth about restoring what Republicans have let crumble away - that person - will be the very next president, gov, senator, congressman, mayor etc

Going forward, at your town meetings, school boards, Dem county party meetings, stand up and say you want honesty and integrity to return to public life. You want issues in your community to be addressed openly and honestly. Tell your elected officials that if they take bribes, you won't ever vote for them again. If they lie about how they will vote on a bill, you'll support their opponent in the next election. If we don't state our demands for integrity, it won't happen.

3. Why do you think they are doing it?

Of course it is harmful. Deadly, I'd say. They are trying to end our democracy and replace it with a Russian-style oligarchy. They can't do so without lying.

4. republicans piss all over their so-called Ten Commandments

by routinely Bearing False Witness. That is one of the key reasons no one respects them. They are full-on hypocrites, paying no respect whatsoever to the moral code they "claim" to live by. Consequently, they become the type of people Jesus despised.

I say it's OK to lie to people who don't value the truth. It's OK to lie to people who don't value your life or your time. Lie to right wingers. Lie to white supremacists. Lie to confederate flag wavers. Lie to Trumpers. Lie to health insurance companies who think money is more important than health. Lie to people who lie to themselves about the present being horrible and some idealized 1950's America was much better.

Don't just lie. Give them half-truths. Give them contradictory statements. Lie by omission.

I couldn't agree more. The die hard trump followers are NOT the majority, and the reason trump won was help from Russia's scorched earth trolls and the 46% who did not vote. I honestly think that a large number who didn't turn out though that there was NO WAY in hell trump could win so they sat it out. I also think they won't be sitting it out this year, but will come out in droves to vote against the attack on out democracy that trump has encouraged.
