Caravan from Honduras

Anyone have the roots of the caravan from Honduras? My understanding is they are coming north to get away from atrocities in Honduras. My question is who started or organized this ? Trump is blaming it on Democratic party in his campaign speeches.

...by the people in the Caravan and whomever helps to organize them.

I hate to be callous, but it's piss-poor timing for this to happen weeks before an election. It's tailor-made for Trump to exploit to fire up his bigots. And I think the media is overly focused on it. These movements used to happen without all the hullabaloo. Maybe not on this scale, but they happened. They became a cause celebre when Trump and the media figured out they could be exploited for political/ratings purposes.
