I heard someone on television today refer to Iran as our "enemy." The moderator didn't contradict him.
For a few golden years there with Obama I thought that Iran and we had reached a peaceful relationship.
Now we are "enemies" again. Why?
My greatest fear with this administration is that its policies will push us into conflict again. Why are we letting this happen?

(13,340 posts)Obama had de-escalated things, but not really resolved them. For a long time (and maybe STILL), Iran wanted to establish itself as the dominant power in the Middle East. They have the destruction of Israel as an existential goal, and they then there is the whole Sunni-Shiite thing.
The theocrats in Iran still hold up the U.S. as the "great Satan," even though for most of the regular folks, they just wanna get on with their lives.
