(51,638 posts)It isn't for oil or arms sales. Is it all about the politics in the middle east and fighting terrorists? The Saudis are terrorists too so why does it matter to maintain good relations with them so much?
question everything
(47,544 posts)Donald Trump said Tuesday that "I have no financial interests in Saudi Arabia" but in fact he has boasted in the past that "I make a lot of money with them."
Trump has sold apartments and a yacht for millions of dollars to Saudis, and recent decreases in bookings in his New York and Chicago properties since he has been president have been offset, to some extent, by business from Saudi customers.

(51,638 posts)to be friends with the Saudis as a friend instead of foe to fight Middle East terrorists and the Middle East countries that don't like us?

(47,544 posts)Remember the oil embargo from the 70s? Long lines at the gas stations, allowing to purchase on an odd or even day, etc?
We were dependent on them and as leaders of OPEC, they determined how much oil would be shipped and at what price.
They have lost that luster since we started fracking, but this is the history.

(51,638 posts)for years, but now we aren't dependent upon them for that anymore. It isn't for arms/weapons sales since the amount the moron said was the "deal" that they already made for $100 million is bogus. I guess it has to do with "Middle East Peace", or at least that is the excuse du jour.
