The ex-wife of U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison never accuses him of abusing her in a divorce file made public Wednesday.

However, Keith Ellison once alleged his ex-wife, Kim Ellison, physically abused him throughout their 25-year marriage. Keith Ellison said his then-wife bit him, hit him, and once pulled a knife on him, forcing him to spend nights in hotels and friends’ homes.

Why didn't the Court let them sue?

What is the point of sealed records, if someone can just threaten to sue the Court for them?

5. The case for unsealing the records was weak.

Kim Ellison said while the records were sealed that Keith Ellison never abused her in any way. The unsealed records support that.

Karen Monahan accuses Keith Ellison of getting physical exactly once:
Keith Ellison dated Karen Monahan for three years. She was living at Keith Ellison's house in 2016. They broke up on the evening of August 25, 2016, but she slept there that night. According to Karen Monahan, the next morning, she was lying in bed in a guest room listening to a podcast. Keith Ellison told her to take out the garbage. She silently nodded. Ellison shouted at her to move out, and tried unsuccessfully to pull her out of bed by her feet.

Monahan stayed in bed at that time, and stayed in his house for another two months.

Ellison denies doing that. But even if it's true, it's not what people usually think of when they see the phrase "domestic violence."
