Finally, the Saudis Come Clean on Khashoggi Accident

Several Saudis visited Mr. Khashoggi in Turkey with questions about his reporting. During the questioning, while removing his fingers with a bone saw, Mr Khashoggi shouted some unflattering comments that riled up the questioners and he was accidentally killed. In a panic to cover this, they then tried to clean up the scene by cutting up the rest of his body to remove it. They have confessed to this unfortunate accident and are repenting in prayer. Praise Allah!

the General who did this would be blamed, sent to Mecca to pray for a few years while MBS sent his family a buttload of money.

My guess is that the General and a few of his 15 member "wet team" will either meet with unfortunate accidents or will be arrested, tried and executed for their "crimes".

I don't think that "being sent to Mecca to pray" is going to cut it.

But Malcolm knows more about the Saudi's than I do.

I just remember what happened to Prince Ahmed bin Salman (owner of War Emblem) and his cousin ( the then head of Saudi secret police ) right after 9/11

Surprised to hear the religious practices of the Kingdom of SA defended on DU.

Never see the same for Catholics or baptist.

They all suck from my perspective.

As far as your empty observation,

Du Bois observed that it is not so much "race" that we think about, but culture: "... a common history, common laws and religion, similar habits of thought and a conscious striving together for certain ideals of life".[89] Late 19th century nationalists were the first to embrace contemporary discourses on "race", ethnicity, and "survival of the fittest" to shape new nationalist doctrines. Ultimately, race came to represent not only the most important traits of the human body, but was also regarded as decisively shaping the character and personality of the nation.[90] According to this view, culture is the physical manifestation created by ethnic groupings, as such fully determined by racial characteristics. Culture and race became considered intertwined and dependent upon each other, sometimes even to the extent of including nationality or language to the set of definition.

And criticizing the religious nature of SA somehow is racist. If you say so.

Be they Christian, Hindu, Muslim or whatever.

Ironically those that threaten the freedoms of people I care about happen to be Christians. I am openly critical of their belief when the guide their actions.

But there is little to defend in the current SA society. It is a brutal, violent theocracy that kills people for breaking their religious laws or criticizing their ruling family.

I read the post as a satirical attack on that power structure.

Perhaps I missed something you saw. The Muslims I know, many who white share my disdain for that same barbaric structure.

I will reread the post and see if I missed something.

to help them recover from this traumatic experience. But it was at least in part Mr. Khashoggi's fault, of course.

Even if Khashoggi in effect made them do it, though, I'm trying to reserve some sympathy for his fiancee, Hatice Cengiz, who waited outside for what Turkey says was 3-1/2 hours before taking the itself-risky step of calling for help.
