Trump Got Elected Bashing Sharia Law. Now He's in Bed With Its Lethal Champion.

Trump rode to the White House on Sharia scaremongering—and now he’s placating its most zealous practitioners in the Saudi court over the alleged murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

PARIS—When will Donald Trump bring Sharia law to America? Of course the immediate answer is “never.” He campaigned against Muslims. He campaigned against Sharia! But in light of recent events, one has to say, as Trump would say, “Who knows?”

What’s certain is that the president’s reactions to the alleged murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, and his administration’s fawning relationship with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, should provoke questions —especially among Trump’s core supporters—about just how subservient the United States has become to a regime notorious for exporting its radical terrorist-inspiring vision of Islam and Islamic law around the world.

After all, if the Saudis can get away with a murder as sordid as the alleged torture and dismemberment of U.S. resident and Washington Post columnist Khashoggi (latest reports suggest the hit-team at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul started cutting him up while he was still alive) what else might they try to do?

And what else might Trump try to accept?

And for decades, the general consensus in the US was that Russians were the enemy, the "Evil Empire", now we have people going to rallies for Tiny wearing t-shirts saying rather be Russian than Democrat..
so, what next? "Oh, well, maybe Sharia Law isn't all that bad. At least they are not Democrats"

6. Right wing hate is a mirror

They rant about George Soros and the "Deep State" - They don't have to talk about the Council for National Policy or Groundswell (And this may be the first time a DUer here has even seen these groups mentioned)

They tell people to be afraid of GLBTQ people and call them deviants - They don't have to talk about Josh Duggar, Roy Moore, and people who abuse trust and consent.

They tell us to fear the Muslim - They don't have to talk about the right wing evangelical who wants to kickstart the "end times", the mercenary killing people overseas in the name of "just war", and the "prosperity theology" pusher who abuses religion and perverts it into something for money.

They tell us the poor are responsible for deficits - They don't have to talk the fact that it is they who are at the helm every time the economy goes down, it wasn't poor people who ran Enron into the ground, but give Republicans enough time and they will pump it out.

They tell us immigrants are bringing drugs and destroying jobs - They don't have to talk about the fact that our own drug companies were the ones who convinced our lawmakers that these opioids were miracles in pill-form and they certainly don't have to talk about the fact that it's not immigrants shutting down factories and moving the jobs overseas.
