"Run" in the sense of political positions means "be a candidate in a political election". As has been pointed out, that isn't how the selection of a VP works. He could say that he was "running for VP" after the convention if the candidate selects him... but he can't do it now.

5. You can't run for Vice POTUS. You can only hope to be selected by the candidate,

so "running" would consist only of making it be known that you want to be the running mate. If Bernie wants the job he'd have to persuade the nominee (and the party). I don't see that happening for a lot of reasons, the least controversial of which is his age. Most candidates prefer a younger running mate because that person has to take over if the president dies or is incapacitated, AND to have a leg up for the next election. Bernie was born in 1941 and so would be nearly 80 in 2021 when the new president takes office, and 88 after another two terms. Either way, it's not happening.
