One poll has Bredesen down by only 3 (which Kornacki pooh-poohs), another just out today from Vanderbilt U that has Bredesen up by 1. Kornacki has such glee when he talks about "political gravity" taking hold in TX, TN and other red states, basically saying the Dems have no chance there. I will not be watching him root for the Republicans on election night.

Kornacki is anothe inside the beltway hack, if anything the tide has gained for democrats nationwide.

(102,320 posts)I too don't think I can bear to watch MSNBC election night if he is on.
His hyper-freneticism has always made me crazy but I could bear that somehow.
But now, his true colors have come out--big time.

(23,333 posts)Hes unwatchable. I might be able to stomach with him if he dealt in facts. He can take his flailing hands, blue button down shirt and khaki pants shtick elsewhere. But where to watch the results? CNN scares me.

(659 posts)Joy Reid, Lawrence O'Donnell and Rachel Maddow carry the night. But alas, it'll probably just be Tweety, Brian Williams and good ol' Kornacki. *gag*

(11 posts)I will never forget the glee and exaggeration with which Kornacki reported the squeaker GOP win in 2016.
Since then I have noticed he had a the just the facts approach to Democratic wins in the specials.
I know that he will again be the contrarian when he reports that the Democratic House takeover is not as important as the GOP Senate hold.

(13,340 posts)But the concept of "political gravity" is born out by the historical evidence. People will toy with the idea of abandoning their political roots, but once the ads start flying, they tend to give in to their base fears and revert to type.
So don't be surprised if Bredesen loses. I'm not saying he can't win, I just don't think he will. Same with Beto (although I would give my left nut to see him beat Cruz) OTOH, this phenomena will probably help Menendez in NJ (and Kornacki said so last night).

(13,305 posts)..this is why even though soooo many Republicans I know hated Trump, they were still never going to abandon their party. And even ones that were not going to vote for Trump were still never going to vote for a Dem.
It's why this near constant effort to focus our attention on peeling off "moderate Republicans" (HA!) continues to be a complete fool's errand.

(they replied, "you might as well blaspheme directly instead of using a euphemism!" ) vote for Pussy-grabbing "tried to fuck her" porn-star sleeping with and paying off Trump. They hang their head a bit when I call them out on it, but they vote for him anyway.

(10,565 posts)Already defied political gravity twice. If people buy into this concept there is really no point in voting and when talking heads like Kornacki start touting these talking points two weeks out it sure feels like something that will tamp down turnout

(13,340 posts)I'm not saying the outcome in inevitable, but politics are more tribal than ever. I'm just saying, don't be surprised if he loses.

(7,447 posts)but Kornacki is probably right. On those two states for sure, and a couple of other red states as well probably.
The Dems chances in TX, TN, MS and ND are pretty sparse. Impossible? No. Sparse? Yes.
I don't think he has "glee." He has a position that doesn't help us feel optimistic. And he's clearly a political nerd who really enjoys his job. Doesn't make him right. Some chance means just that...some chance, even sparse. And in a wave election, the whole point is that races flip that you couldn't have, and wouldn't ordinarily have predicted. That the polling won't predict, because they won't identify the correct turn out.
So if there is a blue wave, all but the most optimistic are going to be wrong.
If there is a muted one, or none at all, then folks like Kornacki are going to be right.
We will see in less than three weeks.
