In the upper right corner of the DU window, for subscribers, is a place to click for Advanced Search. All one need do is enter the term Wikileaks and set a date range. 2014 to 2016 should be a pretty good one to try. See what comes up. Read a few threads.
Some posters took pains to defend Assange. Some say he was framed by Sweden. Many appeared to see him and Wikileaks as the forces of good. Man on a mission, exposing the machine. Fighting oligarchs and big bidniss. Slapping the corporatists.
I'm curious.

(62,444 posts)1. I took a raft of shit early on for criticizing him
Many of the Assange booster club have moved on.

(67,812 posts)2. Yeah . . . . I was more neutral but was always suspicious of him.

(53,801 posts)4. I still don't get what was his business model all along, to eventually be a tool for Putin?
Siding with trump and Putin doesn't make sense in the end.

(67,812 posts)5. I'm guessing he was working for Putin all along.

A lot of those who did defend him no longer post here.

I'm amazed so many people were taken in, really. (I feel the same about Glenn Greenwald, who still has defenders.)
