1. It has never really been leashed. It just cowered in a corner, licking its wounds,

awaiting the voice of its master.

"The Second Coming"

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

W. B. Yeats

"The worst are full of passionate intensity." Indeed they are.

Yeats was influenced by the war itself, the Troubles in Ireland, and the Bolshevik Revolution. Shortly before his death in 1939 he also saw it as a prophecy of fascism. It remains relevant, doesn't it...?...

But

Trump is certainly evil. What he did to the Central Park Five couldn't have been done by anyone who hadn't given himself over completely to the Dark Side.

... it but turn into a self serving bastard.

I truly believe revenge is part of his plan as well as Russian strength reemerging as a very influencing force world wide.

I can't see how the people of Russia follow him though after he cuts their benefits and there's a rise in income equality there.

Tons of lying going on or there's a cult mentality around him.

8. Years ago, I read a short story that I recall

every once in awhile.

The narrator relates his visit to a monastery somewhere in Europe, I think. He finds a man in a cage. The caged man is sad and pathetic. The visitor frees the man from his cage.

The monks become very agitated. They tell the visitor that the caged man was actually the devil. The visitor leaves, not believing the monks.

After WWII and all its horrors, the visitor revisits the monks. They remember him and tell him that everything is getting better. They have recaptured the devil and put him back in the cage.

Scoff if you will. The story stuck with me, even though I cannot remember the title or the author.

Maybe the devil has slipped from his cage and we need to put him back.

may have to band together with some of the other Western democracies. The whole world is threatened by 45. We know this.

There may be war. If it is not a nuclear war, there may be need of an active underground.

I am almost certain there will be violence.
