It dawned on me, it's probably more relevant, today, than it was 20 years ago, when it was filmed.

Still waiting for that.
Great movie but it is so intense. It falls under that rare category of great movies that I never want to see a second time.

I recommend looking up the making of it. There is an alternate ending for that movie that was hard to watch and made the ending even more heart wrenching.

I added a few to the discussion, but meant to add this movie and forgot before i posted.
That movie is INTENSE!

(55,445 posts)Since they learned (not long after this movie came out, ironically) that they'd never be taken seriously as a political entity (or entice borderline potential recruits who were previously turned off) until they ditched the black outfits with suspenders, armbands, tattoos, bald heads, Hitler salutes, screechy rants, etc... It was just too easy for all of America to dismiss them and their message en masse... Now their spokesmen and leaders have cosmopolitan fashions and speak in calm, casual intellectual tones...
And now they can hide themselves in plain sight since the media is too scared to apply the "Nazi" label to any white power movement that doesn't fit the old stereotypical appearance like in "American History X"... They went from looking like punk rockers and motorcycle gang members to cool hipster art professors at the local community college (SEE: Martin Sellner and Gavin MacInnes for example) and one look at the fawning mostly softball coverage MacInnes has gotten this week (along with the usual GOP refusal to condemn them) is all the proof needed to see that they truly have become mainstream...
