Taking over the GOP

...In Casey’s perfect world, whites would live among whites in North America, Western Europe, Australia, and South Africa, blacks would live among blacks in Africa, Asians in Asia, and Hispanics in Latin America. “Ethnic diversity has been proven time and time again in many studies to be very detrimental for social cohesion, social capital, and it's just not a good model for society,” he said.

Identity Evropa gained notoriety last year when it helped organize the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Va. The gathering of white supremacists ended with a white nationalist plowing his car into a group of counter protesters, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer.

Casey now sees politics rather than protests as the prime vehicle to carry his brand of white identity politics into the mainstream.

It also is an example of why not voting, like 46% of voters in 2016, should never be an option. Out country is in trouble, and voting the GOP out is the answer starting on the path of fixing things.

The white nationalist extremists are very small in number, estimated at @50,000 in a nation of 200,000,000 registered voters, but augmented by conservative anxiety in general we're living through a period of backlash to too much social change. This will pass. Notably, in spite of some of the younger alt- types, by far most of the troublemakers are old people. "Sometimes society advances funeral by funeral."

What worries me is that they're currently being used by right-wing extremists among our new billionaire classes to strip We the People of our power to control them and our nation. If we discovered belatedly that our votes are shams, like in Russia and Iran, and objected, they could just close down highways and turn off the water and power to bothersome populations. And of course pick up everyone pre- identified in databases as a potential leader. We're never been in a situation before where most people walking down a street or into a building can be identified with surety within hours at most.

But they are coming out of the shadows more and more since trump took office. The GOP is bad enough, but more and more of these white nationalists getting into public office will not be a good thing from local levels on up to the federal level.

generation produces a few, every generation over the past century has not only produced fewer, but over time they all have become less racist than they once were.

This current period is a nasty but very predictable reaction to too much change and intense worry about a future that can't be visualized, which makes people more conservative, less generous, and more mean spirited.

If it weren't for the creation of the new, ultrapowerful centimillionaire and billionaire classes who hold themselves far above the electorates who control democracies, and whose interests vary dramatically, I'd be very hopeful overall for the future. We would already have gone to work reversing climate change.

In any case, these nasties are not our direct problem, they are merely one of many weapons being put to work to divide our vote and conquer the electorate.

MSNBC, and they had someone talking about these guys. They want to infiltrate the GOP and "blend" in, from the local all the way up to the federal level. Yes. they may not be a direct problem now, but I am more worried that they will spread, not produce less, and even one of them making it into an office with some power, kind of like trump, is one to many, and trump has proven that.

the big problem. From what I've read. Though they are a small part of it. Rather it's large numbers of ordinary social conservatives, currently from the right and the left (like those white working class men who moved to Trump) being focused into a populist authoritarian movement. Sure, they have a few counterparts among the very wealthy, but there are a lot more who will just use them as a tool. As they've been doing for decades now.

From what I've read, nothing new here except that these creeps have been emboldened to identify themselves in public. These young men (mostly) are betting their futures that our nation will be controlled in future by a white nationalist-dominated autocracy.

As for your fears, they've been mine also, but research shows we orient pretty permanently by our teens and early 20s. If people aren't fervent white nationalists longing for an American-style Hitler to follow by then, like these, it's not going to happen. And, as said, there aren't that many who do. They're among humanity's duds, and relatively few want to hire or marry them when they know what they are. I'm in the deep south, and they're not accepted by polite people even here.

The very wealthy people plotting to take control of our government of, by and for the people, plus more ordinary conservatives angry at always losing on social issues at the polls, are the ones we need to worry about, but the latter are also handlable by improving their wellbeing. In FDR's time people like us cut the wealthy down to size with new tax and regulatory codes, and the large and diverse Democratic coalition outnumbered the angry objectors, who calmed down after benefiting tremendously from the New Deal.

If we win before they do this time, we'll use the vote to put our people in congress to do it again. I'm with you on worrying about those "ifs," though. Never thought it'd come to this so fast.

Much of "the new, ultrapowerful centimillionaire and billionaire classes" are multi-decade GOP creations, at the expense of everyone else. GOP has fed these and religious extremists with public tax dollars. Their obsession with destroying social programs from FDR's "New Deal" has overwhelmed their loyalty to country and Constitution.

In addition, GOP has fed the white supremacists, Nazis and other racists, as well as misogyny by way of their propaganda networks in order to form a coalition of extremists to enable distorting the election process to obtain and maintain minority party rule. This coalition, along with the propaganda networks that stoke its rage via disinformation and the ultra-rich paying for it via tax cuts and public debt, is the enemy of democracy and decency.

I'd say, though, if the GOP helped create these uber-powerful classes, the GOP then ended up owned and controlled by them.

We can be proud of our enemies, though, just wished more people realized. There are 200M registered voters alone. We'd squash them like bugs if more joined us. And more are, just perhaps not fast enough... ?

What an asshole.

Claiming South Africa like it has always been an enclave of European White Culture is especially galling.

It's bad enough to claim North America and Australia from the indigenous cultures but trying to claim any part of Africa is just fucked up. Applying his logic, the white population of all of those places should get the hell out and go back to Europe.

But using logic for these people is a lost cause.

I say all this as a very white guy (who loves the diverse culture around me).

“Here we go again; guilty before innocent.” That’s funny because you didn’t say that about the Central Park 5. You wanted them executed. Even after they were exonerated through DNA you said they were still guilty. Also said they should have received $0.00 in a settlement. Innocent indeed!

BBQing in a public park, swimming in a community pool, entering a building where one lives, selling water bottles on a hot day, attending your son's soccer game. Being in any public space.

In my lifetime it became socially unacceptable in decent society to display such bigotry openly, but clearly it never went away, and Trump has emboldened them hideously.

One of the most diverse societies in the world has been the world's primary power for more than a century. Exactly what study shows that diversity is a societal drag, and how would that study explain the United States?

Idiot.
