COMPROMISED______________________
Trump told Fox Business Network's Trish Regan that the U.S. response to Saudi Arabia's involvement in Khashoggi's disappearance will depend on "whether or not they knew about it."
"Saudi Arabias our partner, our ally against Iran," he said. "Theyve been a great ally to me."
"Theyre investing tremendous amounts of money," he added, referring to America's $110 billion arms deal with the Saudi kingdom.

(1,913 posts)Saudi's purchased approx 113 billion under Obama - and so far during the Trump presidency (4 billion). Not many are
questioning that figure - least of all "theHill" which is a propaganda apparatus. Here is the wapo article:
"Trumps $110 billion in arms sales to Saudi Arabia: still fake"
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/10/11/trumps-billion-arms-sales-saudi-arabia-still-fake/?utm_term=.9ca13169f8a8
Everytime Trump says this (a reputable news source should knock the claim down). "theHill" purposely leaves that little tidbit hanging. Posters here should be disabused from thinking theHill is an unbiased news source. It is in fact amateurish psyop. That so many
democrats fall for this bullshit is pathetic.

(1,913 posts)Signing of "pledges" and "vision statements" does not mean the money pledges will actually change hands. Like all of what Trump does - it's for public consumption. I'm not suggesting Trump isn't compromised by Saudi money - only that
he "fluffs" the figures to make realpolitik acceptable to his backers. "Oh well, it's too bad they killed and dismembered
the journalist - but at least our defense companies are making $$" YAY!!!!

(1,913 posts)"Last year in May, President Trump used his first foreign trip as an occasion to visit the kingdom and sign an arms deal advertised as $110 billion a figure experts have since disputed as inflated, since it was not based on actual, signed contracts and included at least $23 billion previously approved by the Obama administration, according to Defense One. But even before that announcement, Saudi Arabia was by far the U.S.' largest arms client, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
Over the five years ending in 2017, nearly one-fifth of American weapons exports went to Saudi Arabia, SIPRI reports. Overall, half went to the Middle East and North Africa. In the 2017 calendar year alone, some $18 billion in new Saudi arms deals were cleared by the U.S."
