So, he's not denying that the reporter has been murdered. Just that it wasn't one of his allies.

This is a pattern that is frequent. They are not denying that these terrible things are happening, just that someone else is to blame.

Another example: The 2016 hacking. What did Trump say about that: Mr. Trump said, “could be somebody sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds.”

And, he's not the only one. What did Susan Collins say about Blasey-Ford:

“I do not believe that Brett Kavanaugh was her assailant,” she said. “I do believe that she was assaulted. I don’t know by whom, and I’m not certain when, but I do not believe that he was the assailant.”

This is what they call gaslighting, isn't it?

We have to pin them to the wall with the evidence in order to turn this thing around.
