President Trumps latest addition to White House decor is a kitschy fantasy painting that shows him relaxing with Republican presidents of the pastan update to a best-selling image commonly found in tourist gift shops and online galleries.
The artwork, The Republican Club by Andy Thomas, could be seen in the background of a photo tweeted by 60 Minutes, which aired an interview with Trump on Sunday night.
It shows a slimmed-down Trump sandwiched between Presidents Eisenhower and Nixon, directly across from Abraham Lincoln. Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, and both Bushes are also in the imaginary scene.

(15,384 posts)Yeah, the Bushes and Reagan would probably be having a good time and so would Tricky Dick. Eisenhower would be looking slightly stern and uncomfortable but not wanting to make waves. Ford would just be confused as to where he was at. Teddy would probably be punching the shit out of Trump, and Lincoln would have declined to show up in the first place.
It's telling that Lincoln is the only one not given a full-face or profile. They include him because all Americans except, "The South is gunna dew it agin!" bunch admire him so they'll claim him, but most wish he had just left the whole slavery thing well enough alone.

(2,959 posts)he's got democratic versions in similar poses. I/m beginning to think of the artist as the Thomas Kincaid/Leroy Neiman of modern kitsch.
His art is priced at low, affordable levels. He also does other American genre paintings and appears to be as a political as he can. I assume his art appeals to more conventional, conservative people. As I said it's not my taste.
Considering the appallingly bad self portraits Russian asset, serial child abusing loser don the con hangs where ever he infests it could have been way worse. I doubt I'll find this in the national gallery one day. Trump will probably take it with him
