President Trump on Monday denied that he offered Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) $1 million to take a test proving her Native American heritage, even though he did just that. "I didn't say that. You'd better read it again," Trump told reporters at the White House when asked about his $1 million offer.
Responding to a question about Warren's test, Trump said, "Who cares?"
During a campaign rally on July 5, Trump taunted Warren for her claims of Native American ancestry, a staple of his campaign stump speeches. "I will give you a million dollars, paid for by Trump, to your favorite charity, if you take the test and it shows youre an Indian," Trump said at the time. "I have a feeling she will say 'no.' "
In a series of tweets on Monday, Warren called on Trump to pay the $1 million to charity. NIWRC is a nonprofit working to protect Native women from violence, Warren said. More than half of all Native women have experienced sexual violence, and the majority of violent crimes against Native Americans are perpetrated by non-Natives. Send them your $1M check.

(16,646 posts)He's a major bum, but he threatened to offer her the money, but he never actually did. He was suggesting he'd offer her one of those tests at a debate, but such an event never happened. The part of the speech they aren't quoting precedes the offer by saying "I should...".
If he was an honorable person, he would honor his hypothetical proffer.
But honorable and Trump don't belong in the same sentence together.

The more that comes out about him, the more I wonder if he even has $1 million in his checking account that would clear if he wrote the check tomorrow?

(38,687 posts)"A hole-in-one from 2010 could turn into a headache for Donald Trump in 2016.
According to The Washington Posts David Fahrenthold, the Republican presidential nominee refused to pay the winner of a hole-in-one contest at a charity golf tournament held at one of his courses and later used money from his charitable foundation to settle the resulting lawsuit, actions that might have violated laws against self-dealing.
In August of 2010, Martin Greenberg, CEO of Sterling Commodities Corp., hit a hole-in-one on the 13th hole at Trump National Golf Club in Westchester County, N.Y., winning a $1 million prize. Or so he thought.
The contests rules stipulated that the shot had to travel at least 150 yards, and according to The Post, tournament organizers had set up the tee short of the mark."

(50,560 posts)It was due to Trumps malfeasance (setting up the shot too short for the ace to count) that caused the insurer to refuse to pay. I would have found a lawyer who hates Trump as much as I do and sued for specific performance.
