Instead of murdering Khashoggi, Why didn't the king

Why didn’t the king and his minions just send some thugs to have a little chat with him and put the fear of God, or should I say Allah, into him? That would be bad enough but at least he would be alive. And it wouldn’t look as bad to other countries.

My guess is they wanted to make an example of him. And apparently Saudis don’t give a shit how they look to other countries.

There are 2 principal powers in the Middle-East:
Iran and Saudi-Arabia. If someone were to weaken Saudi-Arabia with sanctions, that would automatically embolden Iran.

... make sense to go this far and then risk getting found out by the rest of the planet like this.

The journalist must have been some kind of threat

1.He isn't the King, he's the Crown Prince
2.He is the same man that is ordering his military to drop bombs on civilian targets in Yemen
3.He has ordered the arrests and execution of the women who pushed for more rights in Saudi Arabia
4.So far the "world" has done nothing except decide to not attend some BS economic meeting
5.The US is continuing its sale of military armaments to the kingdom
6.Trump once again isn't going to do anything

The man knows he can pretty much get away with anything, as long as Saudi Arabia continues to use its oil production capabilities as a way to keep the West in line!!!!
