The artwork, The Republican Club by Andy Thomas, could be seen in the background of a photo tweeted by 60 Minutes, which aired an interview with Trump on Sunday night.
It shows a slimmed-down Trump sandwiched between Presidents Eisenhower and Nixon, directly across from Abraham Lincoln. Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, and both Bushes are also in the imaginary scene.
Amateur art critics sneered on social media that the painting was tacky, a travesty, or blasphemy. Some said it looked like the political version of the famous dogs playing poker painting.

(32,086 posts)Teddy Roosevelt got disgusted with the GOP and formed his own party? He probably missed the part about GWH Bush voting for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, too. I doubt Lincoln, Eisenhower, and probably even Ford wanted anything to do with the rest of those assholes, either. Quite the fantasy there. Right down to exaggerating the size of Mushroom Dick's tiny hands,
Is this the same kook who did all those other weird-o paintings that included Trump and Jeebus, and God smiting Democrats?

Trump was the guy that needed a golf cart to keep up with the other world leaders on foot, including Angela Merkel, who is only a few years younger than Trump.

(40,212 posts)Even his skin tone looks like that of a normal person. What a joke. Trump doesn't look anything like that in real life.
In my opinion, most of the former presidents in that painting would denounce this asshole for a variety of reasons and walk out of the room: Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, Dwight Eisenhower, and both Bushes. I doubt Ford would want to hang around Trump. That might leave, and I said might, Nixon.
Only a very sick person would commission a painting like this. It is sickening.

(1,997 posts)and the very foundations of our Democracy?
Are they not aware that the political parties changed platforms around the turn of the 20th century when William Jennings Bryant stressed the importance of social justice to the Democratic Party? If they are going to align themselves with Lincoln, then they need to embrace his way of thinking, which was embraced by the progressives of the time living in the large, Northern cities: unprecedented expansion of federal power, government funding of the transcontinental railroad, the development of the state university system, financial incentives for homesteaders to settle the West, and most notably protections for African Americans.
To include Lincoln is very hypocritical.
