The evil fuck in the White House doesn't want to upset the money deal we have with Saudi Arabia.

EVIL. no other words.

President Donald Trump defended continuing huge sales of U.S. weapons to Saudi Arabia on Thursday despite rising pressure from lawmakers to punish the kingdom over the disappearance of a Saudi journalist who lived in the United States and is now feared dead.

As senators pushed for sanctions under a human rights law and also questioned American support for the Saudi-led bombing campaign in Yemen, Trump appeared reluctant to rock the boat in a relationship that has been key to his strategy in the Middle East and which he described as "excellent." He said withholding sales would hurt the U.S. economy.

"I don't like stopping massive amounts of money that's been pouring into our country. They are spending 110 billion on military equipment," Trump said, referring to proposed sales announced in May 2017 when he went to Saudi Arabia in the first overseas trip of his presidency. He warned that the Saudis could instead buy from Russia or China.

In the Oval Office Trump pointed out that the disappearance took place in Turkey and that Khashoggi was not a US citizen. On being told that the journalist was a US permanent resident, Trump said ...

“We don’t like it even a little bit. But whether or not we should stop $110bn [£83bn] from being spent in this country – knowing they have … two very good alternatives. That would not be acceptable to me.”

Now we were about to be married and spend time between Washington and Istanbul. We were so expectant. He had been feeling so lonely, but I could see the clouds clearing. He wanted to build on his years of professional experience to become an influential journalist in Washington, as the Arab world set the stage for major developments. He was thankful to be able to write in The Washington Post, to be the voice of his colleagues who could no longer speak up.

from the Saudis. It's well documented how they bought everything from his yacht to condos when he was broke. And they are still spending money in and on Trump properties. Doubtless they are involved in bailing out Jared's fuckup, too.

By now it should be clear that these phony crocodile tears about lost arms sales are completely meaningless.

UPDATE: WILL JARED LET HIS SAUDI BUDDY M.B.S. GET AWAY WITH (ALLEGED) MURDER?

In an administration that provides fresh horror on a daily basis, one of the most alarming aspects of Donald Trump’s presidency is his penchant for casting off decades-long relationships with democratic allies and cozying up to autocrats in their place. While Vladimir Putin will always have a special place in Trump’s heart, another clear favorite is Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who ingratiated himself with the ex–real estate developer by agreeing to a multi-billion-dollar arms deal that allowed Trump to maintain the illusion of being a successful businessman. In exchange, the president of the United States has basically cheered on the prince’s human-rights abuses. Last November, with the tacit support of the president, M.B.S., as he is known, rounded up 200 businessmen, Saudi officials, and family members as part of a crackdown on alleged corruption, and detained them for months at the Riyadh Ritz-Carlton—a move Trump publicly endorsed. In August, Team Trump essentially gave Saudi Arabia its blessing to expel Canada’s ambassador, ban new trade, freeze Saudi Airlines flights to Canada, and order the withdrawal of more than 12,000 Saudi citizens studying in Canada, after our neighbors to the north mildly condemned the arrests of several political activists, and called for their release. But a recent incident—wherein Saudi Arabia may have kidnapped and murdered a journalist who has been critical of the regime—could make it tough for Trump to look the other way. Though lord knows he’s trying!

Saudi Arabian crown prince Mohammad bin Salman will have plenty of room to unwind after his meetings this week with Hollywood executives — he’s rented out the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills for the duration of his visit.

That should buy him respite from the honking horns of Los Angeles, and from the feminist protesters who object to his government’s treatment of women. The royal heir, also known by the abbreviation MBS, is in Hollywood to meet with such executives as Rupert Murdoch, Brian Grazer, WME boss Ari Emanuel, Disney CEO Bob Iger and Oprah Winfrey.
