Cruz first.

I like his "Mr Smith Goes to Washington" mien. He's a great candidate. Let's see what kind of Senator he makes.

C'mon Texas.

He's savaged Cruz repeatedly for running for president right after he won, and it would be extremely hard to walk that back and do the exact same thing. I personally don't think he intends to break his word on that- I think he's looking at a 2024 run if he wins his Senate race.

I actually think that's a secret factor working against his Senate campaign. I'm sure there's some good progressives in Texas who hate Cruz but who hate Trump even more and would rather Beto beat Trump in 2020 than Cruz in 2018. It doesn't take many of them staying home in November to remove any chance Beto has of beating Cruz.

politicians always say that they won't run for president or will only stay in the House or Senate for 1, 2 or 3 terms, but they'll just say that because of changing circumstances, they've decided to run for president or go for that extra term in office

I think he only runs in 2020 if he loses his Senate race.

For all of Trump's negatives he has a really good economy in his favor, and it's not easy to beat a sitting president with a good economy.

Plus, the demographics look better for Democrats with each passing election- more old white people die off and are replaced by young people of color.

I would like to see Beto enter the primaries.

I'm not sure right now what would put him over some of the others being mentioned for the job.

Beto may indeed become presidential material for us Dems. But let's get a smart, gutsy woman for our next candidate.

I hereby nominate Kamala Harris (with Chris Murphy for VP).

who has a chance. Elizabeth has no charisma. Beto just has that thing which we don't always see. I just think he crushes Trump.

The only thing that matters is the W. The gender of who delivers us from trump is of secondary importance.

That being said, I’d be pretty excited to see Harris take him out. If I could pick the person it would be her.
