Remember, Hillary also said she would never run for public office again. And then she did.
I never could understand why people cant just say "I have no plans to run. I could change my mind, but I dont think that'll happen" or something along those lines.

She made an enormous contribution to the Obama presidency, has to have been our most involved and proactive FLOTUS ever. But after eight years of leading such a public life, she can hardly be blamed for wanting her life back. But I miss her, too - she was just wonderful in everything she did, despite not being a politician.

There are plenty of folks who disagree with me, but I just don't think it's wise to run for POTUS if you haven't been a senator or governor first. Other than Eisenhower, it's senators and governors that get elected. Among other things, they have the experience in running for statewide office. This is why I wish the Castro brothers would run for the Senate or for governor.

you can run from anywhere. It is almost impossible to win statewide in Texas for a democrat. He is national, young, cool and with it. I can't think of another politician that has that"steve mcqueen" cool. Kamala does not have that natural cool. America loves cool like Barack. Barack is super cool.

Kamala Harris has charisma. Cory Booker is ok but he will not have the appeal of Kamala. Bernie is past his expiration date. I like Elizabeth's ideas but unfortunately I think Trump beats her.
Beto has real charisma. He gets on stage with Willie. He draws unbelievable crowds . He raise vast sums of money. He gets young people jacked.

For my money it is Kamala or Beto.

She is tough and a fighter. This kind of thing had to be revealed by FOIA so it shows she will fight behind closed doors.

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/jasonleopold/john-kelly-called-elizabeth-warren-an-impolite-arrogant

Plus she'd bring on the progressives on board especially for a GE.

Bernie Sanders policy ideas aren't past the expiration date I like how his record we need more Senators like him. I would take that in Arizona but he may not win a primary.

Kamala Harris would do good and she has a good progressive record. I like Be to too because he was willing to talk about police corruption and CJ reform.

Texas has a long long way to go before it turns blue; but no matter what else that may be said, Beto put up an incredible fight and has done far far better than I ever thought he would.

Sometime, progress has to be made in increments. Inchi by inch. Even so, Beto has pulled us a couple of feet closer to the goal.

Trading price is currently 80/20, or 4/1 underdog.

As Nate Silver posted in August, the logical numbers in Texas adjusted for this cycle point to something like a 5-9 point victory for Cruz. That made perfect sense to me and it's where the race stands currently. Cruz feels no need to debate because he no longer feels threatened, unlike several weeks ago.

I'm sick that an awesome candidate like Beto is stuck in a state where his career may waste away and never reach anything close to its potential. Too many damn conservatives in Texas on the voter rolls, and too many of the Hispanics are either underage or otherwise not eligible.

All the good or bad news that moves poll numbers right now is LONG forgotten by the time Election Day comes around. Kavenaugh, migrant kids, whatever, will be out of most minds.
But what happens the last 2 weeks stays. Who knows what that'll be with this president.

He thinks quickly on his feet, is extremely personable, would be an AMAZING head of state to interact with other world leaders.

If anything, he would have to LOSE a little of his humility if he is to represent us on the world stage. But what a refreshing change from the current disaster THAT would be.

AND--he may yet pull this out. I'd LOVE to have him as our Senator for a while before he sets his sights on the White House.

He doesn't even appear on this list of 2020 contenders

Without being a sitting or former Senator or Governor, winning a primary will be extremely tough. Not winning your home state is also a major issue. We don't want a repeat of 2000.

That being said, I have hope that he does win. He can then run for President in 2024 or 2028. 2020 would still be too soon.

I just don't understand what happened, he was doing so well, how did he fall so far behind? Is it possible something is not accurate, or not being considered in the polling? I read one article that said he is not getting support from Hispanic voters, which is very confusing, given Trump's insulting remarks. Besides Austin, are there any other liberal or moderate areas in Texas? Trying to stay positive, because it's not over, till it's over.

Was discussing politics with some friends the other night. Some feel the ship has sailed as far as making headway into really red states. Others think it's time for Blue states to join together and form a coalition, and try and reverse a policy that started in the 1930's. That allows Red states to pay much less into the Federal government and get much more back. Blue states pay much more into the Federal government, and get far less back. However Blue states have greater populations, and more money is needed there, to take care of their own. Reverse the current policy, and allow all states to pay their fair share, instead of certain states bearing all the burden. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!
