Why would he leave USA and go to a foreign country? He must have known there was hit out on him.

This is a horrible situation and I agree with you, he will never be found.

He has (or had) a Turkish fiancée, and had to go to the Saudi embassy (he is or was a Saudi citizen) to get paperwork to marry her. I suspect he had the wind up about his government's animosity toward him, but he may have figured that a quick trip to the Saudi embassy in Turkey was a safe enough venture. He may have been dead wrong about that.

Do you need to be a citizen to get quickly hitched in Clark County?

He had to suspect that visiting a Saudi consulate could end poorly.

As a reporter for the Post whose beat is the Middle East, he's probably in that area of the globe quite frequently. His intended, a Turkish national, probably lives in Turkey and is a Turkish citizen, and he was looking to get a Turkish marriage license (or whatever official paperwork Turkey requires). But to get that license, he apparently needed paperwork from his native country, Saudi Arabia, and the consulate or embassy is where a person goes for that.

Certainly it seems that the U.S. had advance notice that Khashoggi was on the Saudis shit list, but I haven't seen anything that indicates Khashoggi knew that reprisal was imminent.

We do have the last screams of a man betrayed to his death by our own government, though. One more thing to remember on November 6.

But they usually died from falling and hitting their head, arms, legs, and abdomen repeatedly in their hotel rooms.

This does remind me of the "dinner reservations" in John Wick...
