That's a courage I can't imagine, and the liberation must be a joy I can't comprehend. You've earned it.
Those of you who can't be out yet: we love you, and we know you're there, and we hope you can be in a safer place soon.
I'm straight, but my understanding of sex as being about authenticity and honesty came from all my LGBTQ friends. You have added that to our idea of what sex requires, and I cannot thank you enough for it.

(9,730 posts)I came out to my family 50 years ago, right after being discharged from the US Army. I was greeted by a big yawn...they had figured it out long since, they didn't care, and they loved me anyway.

Conversion / reparative therapy are harmful and cause depression and suicides, and no one ever changes - despite their marketing BS.
You are what you are, you like what you like, and that's that.
