(51,611 posts)Last night I thought Stephen Miller was on the TV when I was channel surfing...It turned out to be TCM and it was the end of Nosferatu. Miller is the mastermind behind this organized kidnapping. Did you see the picture of the 2 year old who was left to "talk" with the immigration judge?

One of the psychologists who signed "Duty To Warn" said tRump is a malignant narcissist, a sociopath and a sadist. Not a good combination of mainly untreatable personality disorders for any person to have, but especially not good for a pseudo president.

Trump gets off on it as well.

(90,775 posts)What followed one foster family's initially successful attempt to win full custody of Alexa reveals what could happen to some of the infants, children and teens taken from their families at the border under a Trump administration policy earlier this year. The "zero-tolerance" crackdown ended in June, but hundreds of children remain in detention, shelters or foster care and U.S. officials say more than 200 are not eligible for reunification or release.
Federal officials insist they are reuniting families and will continue to do so. But an Associated Press investigation drawing on hundreds of court documents, immigration records and interviews in the U.S. and Central America identified holes in the system that allow state court judges to grant custody of migrant children to American families without notifying their parents.
And today, with hundreds of those mothers and fathers deported thousands of miles away, the risk has grown exponentially.

(8,361 posts)ACLU going after those holes in the system I hope. They have been after him and done really well so far but there is so much to do 24/7!

(90,775 posts)And I firmly believe that adopting the younger children out was always part of the goal - and sending their parents back also a part of that.
What was happening at the border always reminded me of Franco's Spain and Pinochet's Chile. Always.

(33,356 posts)There was a post on DU some time ago that pointed to a news report wherein ICE thought nobody would care about ripping children from their parents. It should be harder to find non-humans to work in government.

(245 posts)And I'm ashamed of this. We are better than this and a 2 year old child going to court makes me weep for our country.
Hoping November 6 brings these things to an end.

(15,541 posts)Dems need to keep this in the headlines. It sort of got shoved aside with all the Kavanaugh b.s.
Plus, pictures of small children in court can sway voters more than just the words. People don't read much any longer. I still have that picture of the little girl in the red shoes seared into my mind and heart. Makes me cry every time I think of it and compare it to my 2 year old granddaughter.

(4,450 posts)Cruelty serves two purposes in the TRUMP administration. First, it feeds TRUMP's need because he's a sadist. He LIKES cruelty. It pleases him. Second, cruelty toward "the other" fires up the TRUMP base. They love it when the perceived other is badly treated, be it non-straight people, non-white people, non-cis-gendered people, whomever.
As for what it would take for Republicans to stop this? It would take them placing basic human decency before political gain, and even that assumes there are still have some sense of the former.
Again, THE CRUELTY IS THE POINT. It is not accidental or an unintended consequence from other actions, it is completely intentional!

(8,361 posts)What is this great and intense need for policies like this? There isn't one, Trump is merely keeping his base happy through organized terror.

(638 posts)This issue cannot be forgotten. These children are being treated as animals by our government. We need to change how we treat our immigrants by voting in november.

(25,862 posts)let these young children come before them, separate them from their parents, or deport them. Trump is by no means the only evil actor here.
