Don't all elections get tighter, the closer to the election?

Seems that way to me.

Does anyone expect this election to be any different?

We will really need to work to get people to the polls. Offer to drive to the polls, etc.

We can hope for blue waves and enthusiasm gaps but, in the end, we have to work to take back the House. Do we want a House of Lords or a House of Commons?

If Democrats wanted to play the Republican game of division, they would inform the young people of this country how people like the old white men on the Judiciary Committee are out to control their lives and to take their freedoms away, if they do not wake up and vote. The Millennials must understand that they are now the majority. The Baby Boomers can no longer protect them from the politics of destruction. They must protect themselves. Their only weapon is their vote. They must become involved.

Sexual assault is a serious issue. Republicans can laugh and scoff but women are demanding to be heard. They will be heard at the polls, I am convinced.

The politics of division must be defeated. We must unite.

I'm not sure if that is the case or if it is a direct impact of for profit media. WeekiWater Oct 2018 #2

There's really no data to support that this is happening, though. It's a manufactured horserace. Squinch Oct 2018 #5

Great question!

My answer: Yes.

I want the Democrats to have BOTH the House AND the Senate. I'm greedy like that.

We should ALL be greedy like that. Hell, the Republicans are...

Some other factors as well.

Early on in the process polling is often simple name recognition. As names get known, polls can often tighten. That is a very natural process.

Look at the election of Trump. While Clinton pulled millions of more votes, with a fair media it would have been an absolute blow out for Clinton. In the last two months the media went on a Trump normalization tour. He wasn't vetted by them for shit. They stuck to "negatives" about Clintons past and just talked about what Trump was doing at the time. They sat on many stories about Trump. At the same time, they absolutely trashed Clinton. That had an enormous impact and there was nothing natural about it. It was self made by the media in order to generate a horse race. That is where their profits come from.
