Judge Napolitano Scolds Trump for Calling Kavanaugh Allegations a ‘Hoax’: Court Needs ‘Intellectual Legitimacy’

Fox News judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano scolded President Donald Trump on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning for calling the sexual misconduct allegations against Justice Brett Kavanaugh a “hoax” manufactured by “evil” people.

“I honestly wish that the president and his people would get past that,” Napolitano said of Trump’s comments, made at a rally over the weekend.

“The Supreme Court does not have an army to enforce its rulings,” Napolitano continued. “Its rulings depend on the intellectual legitimacy of the manner in which the rulings are given, from whom they are given. They really have some work to do to patch up the divisions that exist in the public mind. These divisions don’t exist in reality in the court. Justice Kavanaugh is right. It’s not conservatives on one side and liberals on another.”

(With the midterms coming up, it’s unlikely the president is going to stop beating the hoax drum…)

Napolitano wasn’t finished chiding the president for his comments about Kavanaugh, however: “I was also upset that the president was calling him by his first name. He’s Justice Kavanaugh, he’s not ‘our boy Brett’ anymore!”

Trump’s wild swearing in ceremony raised eyebrows, thanks to his kicking it off by apologizing on behalf of the nation for the bruising confirmation process during which two women came forward with sexual misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh.
