I just saw A Star Is Born.

This iteration is getting a much better reception than the Streisand-Kristofferson iteration. I support artists like Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga who support us so I made a small contribution to the box office for the movie.

Not only can Lady Gaga sing she can act and not only can Bradley Cooper act he can sing.

True. Gaga is prettier without all of the makeup. Coopers beard not good. Funtatlaguy Oct 2018 #1

Maybe I can get DH to go but he prefers movies with explosions or space aliens. I usually go to the movies with a female friend.

A Star Is Born (2018), starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper is based on

A Star Is Born (1976), starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, which was based on

A Star Is Born (1954), starring Judy Garland and James Mason, which was based on

A Star Is Born (1937), starring Janet Gaynor and Frederic March, which was based on

What Price Hollywood (1932), starring Constance Bennett and Lowell Sherman, which was based on

a story by Adela Rogers St. Johns and Louis Stevens, which was loosely based on the experiences of actress Colleen Moore and her husband, alcoholic producer John McCormick (1893-1961), and the life and death of director Tom Forman, who committed suicide following a nervous breakdown.

There are few original ideas in Hollywood, but a well-told story is always welcome!

A really finely made movie. Cooper's directorial debut and he hits it out of the park. Plus great music, much of it written by Lady G and Cooper. I think there will be some Oscar nominations coming out of it.

He wrote/co-wrote almost all of the songs, and he and his band performed in the movie and soundtrack. He and Lady Gaga are close friends. Lukas himself is a star already born and poised to shine brightly

For me, it's going to be hard to beat the Streisand/Kristofferson version. I can't see Cooper as a beat up, alcoholic, has been musician. He's too damn pretty.

And Streisand's voice is so perfect. I've never been a fan of Lady Gaga.

But I'm willing to give it a shot and see.

Lady Gaga’s voice and the songs were great.
Bradley Cooper is way too pretty to have that scraggly beard on.
Basically just another love story about a drunk who can’t get sober.

Cooper looked good when he was supposed to look good and he looked awful when he was supposed to look awful. I've never been a fan of Lady Gaga, but she was great in this movie. The music is wonderful. I'm planning on seeing it again Sunday with another friend who hasn't seen it yet
