Democratic candidate J.D. Scholten of Sioux City says Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is coming to Iowa's 4th Congressional District to support his campaign to unseat U.S. Rep. Steve King.
Sanders, an independent who campaigned for president in the 2016 Democratic Party caucuses in Iowa, will make stops Oct. 20 in Sioux City and Oct. 21 in Fort Dodge and Ames, Scholten confirmed Saturday. He announced the visit Friday night at a dinner sponsored by the Woodbury County Democratic Party.
Scholten has been barnstorming the 4th District in a Winnebago RV in an effort to drum up support to defeat King, a Republican from Kiron serving his eighth term in the U.S. House. Scholten has attracted national attention because of his ambitious effort, but political analysts and GOP officials say King remains a favorite for re-election in November...

He's not in my district, I've given to him couple times. I think he's got a shot.

SEN. CORY BOOKER, J.D. SCHOLTEN, & DAVID WEAVER
MONDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2018
12:30 PM 1:30 PM
Ag roundtable with Senator Cory Booker, J.D. Scholten for U.S. Congress, David Weaver for Iowa State House, local farmers, and ag businesses at the Boone County Democrats HQ.
Join J.D. and our special guests in conversation centered on corporate consolidation in agriculture and why this must be addressed in rural Iowa. There will be time for questions and discussion from those in attendance.
U.S. Senator Cory Booker has introduced S. 3404, the Food and Agribusiness Merger Moratorium and Antitrust Review Act of 2018, a bill that would put an 18-month moratorium on large agribusiness, food and beverage manufacturing, and grocery retail mergers and acquisitions. S.3404, is aimed at the unprecedented concentration in the agriculture and food sectors, which is squeezing small family farmers, driving down wages for workers, and hurting rural communities.
In just the past two years, chemical and seed company acquisitions and mergers like the blockbuster Monsanto-Bayer deal have allowed just three companies to control two-thirds of the crop seed and nearly 70 percent of the agriculture chemical markets. Meanwhile, net farm income for US farmers has fallen by more than half in just five years.

Everyone who can spare the time and money should be campaigning for J.D. against this racist.

Also just found out that Ben Cohen announced the winner of Ben & Jerrys ice cream flavor contest for him. It's Joltin Scholtens Grand Slam Home Run! (Scholten was a pro ball pitcher for a while).
