Slavery? Again?
The Republican Party is funded and run by a handful of very rich white men who want America to be run by a handful of very rich white men. Men like themselves.
The tools that the Republican Party have used to gain and hold power consist of gerrymandering, voter suppression, "scrubbing" voter lists, limiting voting dates, closing polls in some (wrong) areas, bot calls to give (some) people the wrong voting dates and polling places, intimidation at polling sites, the need for IDs that many poor people don't have, and so, so much more.
And let's not forget their other "tools." Anger, hatred, bigotry, fear, lies, and a need for an enemy to blame for everything.
America's would-be oligarchs are manipulating the system and have been doing so for decades. And they're getting very close to what they want. A country ruled by them.
Russia is a country ruled by oligarchs with Putin being the number one guy. Most Russians struggle to survive because they are not among the privileged few. The Russian people are victims of a rigged system. In effect, they are slaves. And most Russians know that they are slaves.
Is this where America is headed? It's sure as hell a place where none of us want to go. Nonetheless, that handful of wealthy white men are steering our country in that direction. And they have the aid and assistance of the Republican Party, the bigots, the racists, and the just plain clueless who have no idea that they're being used and are turning themselves into slaves.
No whips, dogs, torture will be required this time around. Propaganda, and the fools who buy it, seem to be the only chains required.
