They werent going to be satisfied, or their healing process, until we convicted this person, Manchin told The Associated Press. I couldnt do it. You talk about two wrongs trying to make a right. It just wasnt in my heart and soul to do that.
Manchin insisted over and over that his vote wasnt based on politics.
There is little doubt, however, that his vote was in line with the wishes of many West Virginia voters, who gave Trump a victory in 2016 by 42 percentage points. There simply arent enough Democrats in the state to re-elect Manchin. He needs a significant chunk of Trumps base to win.

(7,006 posts)First, he used the pronoun "They" in an attempt to dismiss the Women who stated that Kavanaugh Sexually Assaulted Them, along with any protesters who experienced Sexual Assaults, and millions of Women who have experienced Sexual Assault around the Country.
Second, he used the word "This" person, another pronoun -- however more personal than the word "They". "This" and "Person" used back to back, displays a sense of "Righting a Wrong" in Manchin's mind for the Person who was credibly accused of Sexual Assault. This one is interesting all in itself for a Person who claims to be aligned with Democratic Policies and Positions.
Third, Manchin says, "You talk about two wrongs trying to make a right." Umm. Counteract this questionable part of Manchin's statement with what U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp said on why she voted Against Kavanaugh while being down 7-8 points in her U.S. Senate Re-Election.....
I was deeply disturbed by the lack of judicial temperament and the lack of impartiality, she said of Kavanaugh, whose angry defense had included sharp denunciations of Democrats and accusations that opponents were seeking revenge on behalf of Bill and Hillary Clinton.
As she weighed whether to believe Kavanaughs accuser Christine Blasey Ford, Heitkamp said she was also thinking of her own mothers experience.
My mother was a victim, she told The Washington Post, her eyes filling with tears. Theres a lot of people who have been victims in this country. My mother was one, and I think all five of us girls were a lot stronger because she raised us to be stronger as a result.
Heitkamp said she thought the Kavanaugh decision was among the toughest of her political career. It also has changed the government, she said.
We have a highly partisan executive branch; we have a highly partisan legislative branch, she said. We now have injected that partisanship into the judicial branch.

Thank You U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp for no "Two Wrongs Trying to Make a Right -- BS." Because that is what a statement like Manchin's is, BS. (Let's see if this TRUTH will be Censored by a Removal on this site, of this Free Speech Thought. We will see).
Lastly, Manchin said, "It just wasnt in my heart and soul to do that," -- so specifically, it was not "In His Heart" to "Believe The Women". WOW!!! Really Now?
What else can be said about this right here but if 47 other Democratic Senators plus on Independent Republican with Lisa Murkowski "had it in their hearts" to believe the WOMEN and Manchin did not....What is He?
Specifically, Who Is He?
We should be allowed on this site after these words out of Joe Manchin's own mouth to call him out for what he did and equally, confirmed by his own words.
Waiting.....

(82,849 posts)Apparently, he's gotten a confirmation hearing confused with a criminal trial. It's understandable considering the institutional banditry currently misruling our country. But if Kreepazoid was denied a seat on the Supreme Court, he wasn't going to jail. He was going back to his lifetime sinecure on the DC Court of Appeals, Senator. Blurring the lines between a committee confirmation and a criminal proceeding wasn't by accident, either.

(56,829 posts)He still would have had a high paying federal judgeship. That's not like sending him to jail.
(Granted, if they kept investigating, who knows what would have happened?)
