A Florida woman who shared photos of her bruised and bloodied face on social media following a domestic violence attack has gone viral in her native Brazil.

Melissa Gentz, 22, was attacked by socialite boyfriend Erick Bretz Sept. 23 in his downtown Tampa condo tower, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

But the University of South Florida student didn’t shy away from taking her injuries public; three days later, she shared a selfie on Instagram that showed off her massive black-and-blue and bloodshot eyes.

“You know how we usually have a side of our face that we prefer more than the other? I like my left side.

Unfortunately, it’s the side that was severely bruised by violence,” she captioned the image. “Today was the first day in which I felt like passing some mascara and blush on the right side of my face… I won’t hide the marks of my story because NO woman should feel ashamed of (sic) feel blamed for being a victim of domestic violence.”

Bretz, 25, was arrested and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail on charges of domestic battery by strangulation and tampering with a witness, online records show.

He was released days later on a $60,000 bail, and has since pleaded not guilty.

His father owns one of Brazil’s largest grocery chains, and he is also well-known on the Brazilian Motocross Championship circuit, according to the Times.

Watch!

What a mean sob he still is.

Couldnt talk about this and all of the other debilitating things he has done until I was over 50.

Fucking scary. But I am working on it.

Took me years ...decades, actually, to understand why she had not left years before.
But times were different in the 1950s.

In the 70's I worked with Batterd Women's shelters, a change in attitudes was beginning.

stay with my dad, the only escape my mo had was with only one of her six kids, three were in diapers, so she left alone, couldn't chose just one of us. We continued to get beaten by my dad for another seven years, my childhood was stolen from me because I had to raise the three in diapers... starting in the early 60s when there were only cloth diapers, I was nine when I had to become "mom". We were in Maine, a state where children were possessions and what you did with them was your business as long as they weren't being starved or end up dead.

I see where Collins' ideals come from, they are not from anything more modern than the Victorian era.

So sorry for what you’ve been through. At least I know I wasn’t alone.

They were oh-so-concerned that 15-year-old Christine Blasey didn't immediately come forward in 1982 to finger the boy who'd tried to rape her. Well, here's a victim, boys (and Senators Collins, Fischer and Ernst); where are you?

Susan Collins will tell us. Don the Con will say it wasn't Bretz because he is a high quality person. Lindsey Graham will tell us she took her sweet time reporting it, and it's all a big conspiracy.
