Melania's long struggle for respect: 'Focus on what I do, not what I wear'
"I laughed so hard when I read that that my lunch started coming out of my nose," said one of my friends, who no longer reads the news while she eats.
I am not sure that this is fair. There was a time when nobody wanted to discuss whether her shoes were practical --- or anything else about what Melania was wearing.
But now she can't don heels without cries of ridicule
Well, OK: if she actually had a tree-planting job, she'd be fired within about ten minutes as a useless bumpkin. But here her gig was much shorter than that: she only had to walk onto the White House lawn and do her impression of Melania the Girl Forester through several shutter clicks.
And face it: she doesn't gets more respect when she doesn't wear heels!
Yes, those would be very very clean shoes for someone who did a lot of gardening. But I suspect Melania's secret here just never crossed your mind: when the shoes get smudged, it's time to toss them for a new pair. And that produced so many late night policy debates: "Please don't put tariffs on tennis shoes! Pretty please!" But, of course, the media never covered that story about Melania speaking out for other upper-class trophy-wives with limited allowances, preferring to leave the impression that she's an out-of-touch airhead.
Melania also caught flak for wearing her "I don't care" jacket. But it was just for giggles. People need to lighten up. And that's why Donald should wear that funny "I pooped today" tee-shirt she bought him.
