Mitch McConnell's massive pile of bullshit.

He said on FOX News that you had to go back to the 1890's to find where a Supreme Court Justice was confirmed in an election year.

I don't know if that is true or not, but the numbers alone show him to be full of shit.

It's not like a Supreme Court Justice is dying every year? And if they do die, what are the odds they will die in a presidential election year? How many opportunities has there been to appoint a Justice in an Presidential election year?

Common sense would tell us that this would be a very rare event.

Mitch McConnell is full of it.

He is the last person that should be leading anything, especially the Senate. The voters of Kentucky would do the country a great favor by getting rid of this scourge the next time he comes up for reelection.

From Feb. 17, 2016, about the invented "80-year 'tradition'" of not filling a SCOTUS vacancy in an election year:
https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2016/feb/17/misleading-notion-supreme-court-vacancy-hasnt-been/

The last time there was a vacancy, nomination and confirmation was 84 years ago. After Oliver Wendell Holmes retired on Jan. 12, 1932, Benjamin Cardozo was nominated by President Herbert Hoover on Feb. 15, 1932, and confirmed by the Senate nine days later. (Hoover lost his reelection bid that year.)
***

In 1940, President Franklin D. Roosevelt nominated Frank Murphy, after the death of Pierce Butler in 1939.

In 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower made a recess appointment of William Brennan. Brennan was nominated and confirmed after Eisenhower won reelection.

In 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson — who announced he would not run for reelection — made two unsuccessful nominations. He picked sitting Justice Abe Fortas to replace retiring Chief Justice Earl Warren, and Homer Thornberry to replace Fortas. Facing strong opposition from Congress, Fortas asked his name to be withdrawn and Thornberry followed suit. Warren delayed his retirement.

And there’s also 1988, when Justice Anthony Kennedy was confirmed by a vote of 97-0. President Ronald Reagan, in his last term, nominated Kennedy in 1987.

Citizens united. Obama “one-term.” Merrick who? Fellating tRump. Bart O’Kavenaugh.

Meanwhile, he and his wife are super-glued to the government teat, making a fat living (and pension, no doubt) by hanging around for decades in an institution they profess to distrust at least, and hate at most.

McConnell is the head of the serpent.
